Mopar ECM, who's got one

I had mine put in last fall and only drove it once, I thought the high RPM's left a little strange but wasn't sure.

Well I got it back out now and to me it feels like the power tapper off after about 5700 allowing it to slowly hit the rev limiter. I was constantly hitin the rev limit with the original ECM, bang it was thier before you knew it. Now the thing feels more like it looses power and you are lookin down at the tach to see what it happening. I guess it can be a good thing, causeing you to shift before you get out of the power band.

So anyone else have one that can tell me how theirs compares. At one time I thought some one posted a dyno of the Mopar ECM, would like to see that and see if the power drops off different.

I've had the Mopar ECM on my truck for quite a while now. I've got K&N , Magnaflow, Mopar headers with no cats. After the header install I put it on the dyno and picked up 27 HP and 45 ft/lb's of torque 476HP 524TQ
I installed the Mopar ECM and went back to the dyno and got 471HP and 526TQ . I was dissapointed in the numbers, but the truck drove totally different. Much more low end than before, it will light the tires at will in low gear. The one thing that I should have done was drive it for a while before going to the dyno, because the truck feels even better now than it did right after install. I've heard that with a ECM install, or any mod, that it takes a while for your ECM to re-learn and adjust. If I get a chance, I'll put my truck back on the dyno to see if there is any change in the numbers.

Patrick, we're thinking about you Brother!

Thanks for the input, I felt the improvement with the headers and exhaust, that is for sure.

Based on your dyno numbers their is not much change, the little you lost could be just do to the weather that day. After I get some more time on it I may take and through the stock ECM back on to see if I notice anything different. I wish I had access to a dyno to do some comparision on them.

As for lighting up the tires on will, well only way I can do that is dumping the clutch. Their is no lighting the tires on a roll, unless the black top is greasy like at stop lights. The thing just hooks and goes, I have always though my truck had great traction, I know other have complained about the traction. Maybe mine is just a freak, or maybe they did something stupid like take the wing off

Mines pretty much the same way with traction....but then again I am at 7200ft.

I know I've got the DC Flash and Belanger's, but IMO we're pretty close mod-wise.

I drove my truck today and I can pretty much blaze the tires at any point in 1st gear. In fact, this morning on the way to work (at 3:30am  ), I stopped on a backroad, gently took off, then mashed it! The tires immediately spun through first, I powershifted 2nd and the tires spun through 2nd, I powershifted 3rd and left about a 10 foot patch. FWIW, my tire pressure is set at 38psi on all corners.

I'm not trying to rub it in, but I would think that with your mods, at this time of year when the roads aren't especially hot (cool balcktop = not as good traction) and the air is cool, you'd actually have some traction issues. Maybe you should try the stock ECM and see what happens?

Is the ET in your sig WITH all of your mods?

Hopefully, I can get to the strip this weekend and I'll have some new times with my Belangers and high-flow cats to see how they compare. Weather is looking perfect - low 60's and sunny!

My time was with everything but the ECM. Don't get me wrong, I can make rubber through most of 3rd gear as long as I launch at say 3000rpm or so. My 60' times are on par with everyone running fast, better then some, so I don't think anything is really wrong power wise.

Now the 94 T/A that I got rid of, that thing would spin the tires pretty much anywhere in 1st, but it was light in the back and had hard tires. The SRT is faster then the TA was.

Traction was the same with the stock ECM, look forward to seeing your times, I think their is a hair more in mine with some more passes.

this is a stupid question but what is an ECM, and what does it do to help with horsepower. Also i have been hearing u guys talk about flashes and i agian ask what is it and what does it do?

It's the computer (Electronic Control Module).

The 'Flash' is a new program for the computer. Basically it's a new, generally more aggressive tune that increases power, among other things. ;)

I thought a flash was when a hot chick showed her delight with our trucks!!

Are you saying your ECM didn't work? Also what is a stage 2 ECM, Mopar only make 1. I know the aftermarket guys have a stage 1 & 2

Yeah i just call it stage 2, cause i assume stage 1 is the standard. assumptions...

But yeah, big ordeal atm. performance hotline saying the part is for RC's only, and not made for QC....

I have had the Mopar Performance computer since February. After I drove it for about 200 miles, it felt like I picked up some on the bottom end. I can roast the tires in second just by mashing the throttle. That's without slipping the clutch. Before I would have to powershift from first. The Mopar catalog and the note that came with the PCM does say it works best with the Mopar headers and cam. I plan to throw in the cam over next winter.

There is no doubt you can probably get more HP out of an aftermarket flash. Especially one that is tuned to your mods. I wanted to keep mine on the mild side for longevity reasons.
