My buddy that owns a tire store went to an action of another tire store that was going out of business. He bid on a lot of 4 sets of Pirelli 305/45/22`s.

I bought all 4 sets from him for...get this $99.00 a tire.:wow:

I think I am set for the forseeable future on tires I think.:fing02:

You seem to be well connected in the auto arena. Reminds me of myself when I was in the field 15 years ago. Needed this, had a friend. Needed that, knew a store owner for it.

I miss those days but I will say in my new career (which is older then my mechanic career) I am well connected but how can I use an OC192 for my SRT10 LOL

Don`t make them Tom.Just 325/50.

Can you throw a link at me? Curious what the outer diameter is, and if anyone else is running 325s?

I sent them an email asking for the specs of this tire. Yokohama's web site doesn't list this tire anymore.

So, what issues have you noticed from running 45s vice 40s? Speedo off by a few MPH? Any clearance issues?

I'm looking to buy a new set of tires and trying to decide if I should get 45s to fill up the wheel well, or just stick with the 40s

I realize this thread is a little old, but no reason not to bring it back to life.

Keep them someplace where they won't dry rot. Four sets should take you awhile to go through unless you do burnout contests. I saw an article on TV awhile back about how tires have an expiration code on them and that you shouldn't run them once past that date. Basically a "Best Used By" type thing you'd find on a food container. The show went on to say that they went around to a couple tire places and saw new tires on the rack that were past there "freshness" date. Sometimes years past that date.

So you might consider selling off a set or two to get them used within their expiration date. You'll need to check them to see how much time you have.
Just a FYI. Not a "Sky is Falling" type thing.

This is a BIG DEAL in the RV community. For those who don't RV, they recommend replacing your tires when they "exipre" even if they have plenty of tread and no cracking or dry rot. Just not worth the risk of a blow out on the freeway. Good point Big Dave!

Just trying to spread a little knowledge (Lord knows that's all I have) in case they didn't know about this.
This is not just for Dave (Roktman). Everyone should check this on all their vehicles.

Great Call Dave, I have already been checking around for tires and one of the first questions I ask is "How Old is the Tire". Most of the sales personnel will say "They are New" until I ask about the date code and then they start to Studder... :)
