97 Cobra

So I'm out cruisin around last night when I come up behind a Cobra and a Civic getting ready to do a roll on. So I wait to see what happens. I hear the three honks and they go. I wait about a second then I romp on it in second. Damb thing closed so fast on the civic I had to hit the breaks. Feeling good now. Get to the next light and its the cobra and myself next to each other. I see him looking over at me, but I'm still pretty aprehensive about racing down this street (EVERYONE races down this section of road, and all the cops know about it. Alot of people get busted.) So he takes off and I let him go. No biggy. We get to the next light and I rev a couple of times to let him know I'm ready. Light turns green and I get a pretty good launch. Kind of slow, but NO spin. Still rolling on smooth til full throttle. Slam it into second, still pulling away. By the time I go to shift to third he's about a foot behind my tailgate. Go to hit third... nothin. I miss it! It felt like it went in, but when I let out on the clutch, VROOOOOOOOOM. But it was ok, cause I think he did too, cause he never got up next to me. Until the next light. Then we did it again. and again I missed third. DAMN IT!! We get to the next light and I roll down my window and ask him what year it was. He said a 97. I told him it was a nice car and sounded good (had an exhaust on it). He asked if I had ever raced a L with "that thing" Having not, I said no. Then he told me "that thing is sweet." I said thanks and went on my way.

You may have hit reverse. Theres an electronic shut out just for that reason.
I think I did that once, freaked me out, though I broke something.

no offense guys, that Cobra wasn't stock. Those Cobras supposedly had 320hp stock.

Also, LEARN TO SHIFT! It seems everyone misses 3rd!
Can't someone make a shift plate, similar to Ferrari's, so you KNOW it went into the Slot and is in gear.

I have found if you point your elboe out toward the passanger door you don't have the tendancie to throw it into fifth or even worse, reverse. Since Ive used this tecnique I havn't missed third yet!!

I meant the missing 3rd thing... but it seems like the fix is on the way!
