dodgeguy 03-29-2005, 05:47 AM Yesterday after signing up the biggest case of my career a tricked out Mustang starts harrassing me wanting to race. I was feeling way too good to be brought down by a young kid who has his life savings under the hood of his car. I was there once and I didn't want him to be able to go around saying how he outran a viper powered truck. But the red light caught us with an open four lane road. When the light turned green we both nailed it. The QC immediately pulled him a full length when second gear exploded, another length, it was really sad to watch this kid with his giant tach, tires, shoe polish on his window and trick exhaust being blown away by a big four door truck with a big bag of potting soil I had just picked op from Home Depot in the back. My day just got better and better. I really love this truck! And yes it is totally stock and will stay that way.
Familytruckster 03-29-2005, 07:27 AM Awesome!! I was hauling butt on the highway the other day when I realized I had ten fern plants in the back. Needless to say when I got home there were no more leaves on them. SOL
womsterr 03-29-2005, 07:37 AM Great kill man!
Droopy 03-29-2005, 07:39 AM I took on a Mitsi EVO yesterday light to light and stayed right with him. I don't think that was too bad against a rice rocket. He didn't appear to be very happy about it either. ;)

I was the "kid" in that Mustang yesterday, and lets tell the whole truth.. 1st of all, i didnt even move off the line, you did.. secondly, i got no traction on my bald street tires. I'll be at the track tonight if you wanna have a little rematch and this time i will actually move when the light goes green :) (dont you hate when somoene pulls beside you at the light in something hot, and you give it gas, they dont and you look stupid? i sure do :)).. As for the life savings under the hood, i have 2-Chamber Flowmaster Muffers and a K&N Filter. It was a nice race, i was reeling you in, i believe if i would have went off the light, it would have been a diff story.. like i said, no hard feelings, and no flames.
PS:
Lets do it at the track, i think it would be fun :) It sure would be sad to let all your pals on here know you got beat by a $4500 car with Exhaust with a $50K 500hp/500tq V10 Truck. Like I Said no hard feelings, hope to see ya tonight!

SRTFirefighter 03-30-2005, 12:36 PM If that's ALL you have under the hood, there is no way in hell he is going to be coming back to this board and talking about how he got beat by a 4500 car. I personally flat out killed a 97 cobra the other day(and he left the line first). I'm sorry, welcome to the board, but there is no way your car is gonna beat this truck. Right now, the only stock mustang out that will beat this truck is an 03/04 Cobra...(or maybe an old school muscle, but I don't know much about them) Period.

The fastest "old school" mustang was the 69 Boss 429 Mustang...Did a 13.6 in the 1/4. Now on modern tires/exhaust and on a good day would do low 13's with a decent driver. So, it could beat a stock SRT10 but it would be damn close.....
They cost $4,798 in 1969 ;) but now an original would be much more than a Ram SRT 10 ;)
Jayme 03-30-2005, 01:56 PM Guess we'll see huh? ;) Like I said, im not on here to talk/start Sh*t or flames of any kind, its a waste of time for both parties.. You're right about keeping things friendly and respectful. Let me make a point about this truck that you might not have thought of before.
The $45K - $50K for this truck buys a lot more than just a drag racer. Any decent grease monkey can spend $5K on a junker and make a pretty quick drag car but that's all it's good for. For our money, besides great acceleration, we get an all around performer with the ability to carve up a mountain road, stop as good or better than most exotics, ride comfortably on incredible powered leather seats, cruise town with 500 watts blaring, push our brick-shaped aerodynamics to over 155 mph top end, haul a load of drywall (or potting soil) and do all of this with a bullet-proof drivetrain, a whole boat load of attitude, a warranty and an engine with almost unlimited potential. I seriously doubt that you will find one person on this forum that thinks they spent too much.
There I feel better.
Jayme 03-30-2005, 02:50 PM K, i'll be out there at 6:00. Come find me and say Hi *Like i said, Trying to keep this friendly*. Black 1990 Mustang GT w/ Weld Rims. :)

I think everyone here is friendly :D
The 5.0 Mustang was a bread and butter street rodder platform for several years. Still is from some....
Its just hard for most folks around here to believe a car that did 14.7 seconds stock will beat another vehicle that on a bad day will do 14.0
.7 seconds is forever in the quarter and cant be made up with mufflers and a filter.
So unless:
1. You are secretly running NOS
2. Its not a true "stock" 5.0 (except for mufflers and filter)
3. "dodgeguy" stops by Home Depot again and picks up 1,000 lbs of fertilizer on the way to track
This race will just end up as your opportunity to check out his really cool new Quad Cab ;)

You're right Big Asp, i have nothing against the trucks, they are beautiful and powerful, wouldnt mind having one.. But to each thier own, im partial to Fox Mustangs and you guys have the SRT-10, I have nothing against any of you guys, but like i said, in a drag race, i think i can take that particular truck (Bone stock SRT-10 Club Cab). But, ill be at HRP tonight, and hopefully we'll see :)

But I am here to tell you I love my dang truck it is the most fun of any vehicle I have ever owned. And it is absoulutely without a doubt dollar for dollar the biggest bargain of any vehicle I have now or have ever owned! Now that was a mouthfull ! Ylw-Fvr 03-30-2005, 09:32 PM Geezus map I didn't say stock  I said on the motor, it is a full fledged drag race car with a 418 ci windsor based engine with 14.5 to 1 compression running methanol with a ron's injection flying toilet. Don't assume someone is a dumbass because you don't understand . I was bragging on the trucks not my race cars. I just happen to have 3 bracket racing cars and a bad ass 1964 chevy II nova street car. It is the cheapest of the bunch and I got 35k in it . I just said on the motor because I don't use nitrous or a blower on them . I am an Old Gearhead that enjoys lots of hp and I love drag racing at the track every weekend possible. I don't like to street race beacuse you endanger other folks but living down here in the extremely remote areas of south georgia I have been known to hit it ever now and then ;) ;)

What, did another L owner confess about getting bored and buying an SRT ? Or did someone turn on the lights and you guys came scurrying over here ?
Hurt our feelings ? We just wish that we were therapists and could tap into half you guys over at NLOC. We could have all retired by now (Except for Craig, bastard ;))
Being 6' 7" I have seen a similar issue with some shorter men (No offense to anyone here ;)) who have an insecurity about being short and therefore turn that in aggression toward taller/bigger guys. They go to the gym (Basic mods) and then try and start a fight with some big guy and think they will kick their ass. Occasionally they do but in the end the have to just get over it and be happy with what they have and not be so insecure. Hmmm, the similarity is astounding :D

Ok so your saying that a stock late model Furd Lightning with a good driver can run a 12.8 sec 1/4 mile?? If so, then all it would need is a 5 star frontal crash test rating, a shorter stopping distance than a Porsche. a super car drive train, and a 508 watt phenomenal sound system from the factory to be equal to the only Super Truck in the world… Problem is, your truck is smaller, lighter, force induced and still cant even get a mid 13 from the factory.
What a fag, yea I can see you enjoy all kinds of cars, that’s why you come to a site that is dedicated to a far superior vehicles than your, yet all you have done is insult it, and its owners.

Venom Power 03-29-2006, 04:24 PM I dunno guys. I see a LOT of static here on this thread. There are entirely too many different silly claims and responses to mention here. Maybe there is a person driving a Ford out there that can demolish SRTs one after the other like it’s nobody’s business  . I haven’t seen anything like that yet. All I can do here is speak from my extensive experience since picking up my RC last year. Now keep in mind that my only mod is a Magnaflow muffler. Stock cats, stock exhaust manifold yadda yadda ;) . Anyway, from my perspective if I were to come on here and mention every single Mustang, Z28, Trans-Am or Lightning that I was forced… :D YES forced to school, I would have been here starting as many posts as the ROKTMAN himself ( ;) what up Dave?). However, I only mention some kills that I consider more interesting. Roush, Saleen, Cobra, Lightning, SS Camaros, WS6… :D these are only some of the vehicles that made it on my list of autos that were eaten for lunch by my 99% stock RC ...hands down. Now, some of you visitors can say what you want, but as I said I only speak from what I’ve seen and not read in a magazine somewhere. I’m not saying my truck is unbeatable. I’ve admitted that my day is coming... maybe sooner than later :o . But I will say this.. For the pleasure and performance I’ve experienced when down shifting while gripping my leather wrapped steering wheel  , I wouldn’t mind paying another $15,000 for it  … and that’s no bull. I’d like to see an L owner say he/she would have spent many thousands more for their trucks, or better yet, an SRT owner that has gotten rid of their super truck for an L. Yeah, that’s yet to be seen..
