My GTS doesn't have a 1st and 2nd lock out. What year are you describing?

Did you do the missed shift thing and then had the popping? I would do a cylinder compression test and leak down test. Valve float (rpm>6500 ish) may have made the valves contact the pistons. I know. I bent all 20 valves and damaged all 10 pistons on the Viper. Still ran though.

Interesting that nobody has bothered commenting on your primary complaint...

I have this problem once in awhile, mostly after a series of downshifts coming to a stop at the end of a freeway ramp, then hitting the gas pretty hard. My local DC service shop thought I was nuts, but then again, I am. The fuel map has some very rich spots in it, and I suspect that it's to blame for the intake backfire.

I basically blame everything that's wrong with the truck on either fuel management or clutch hydraulics. I have yet to be wrong. :D

9,

You did.

Your discussion made me recall the other day I had a dyno test ran (which I will discuss in FULL soon in another thread) I guess when it hit the rev limiter (??) at 5700 rpm it shut down and I notice several back fires through the exhaust. Comments

Hey 9 your probably on to something. If you really overevved the sucker and damaged the valvetrain it could lead to backfiring through the intake.

I had a bike once that had sticky valves and started to backfire through the carb...

Jay, just kidding. Your posts will be much easier to read if you use punctuation. I have to admit I missed part of your first post because of this.

Welcome to the group.
