That popping sound is Sooooooo familiar....Made my stomach flip flop when I hear it in my truck. My question is he needed all that to beat a 2000+ GT???

He changed out the supercharger too it looked like. I would like to say I am sorry for this guy, but he *HAD* to know he was pushing it WAY too hard.

No that's a stock blower case. He does however have a metco aux idler bracket and pullys to increase belt wrap on the upper pully. Maybe that's what you saw.
Simple math.....8# lower + Mail order tune = BOOM. Don't feel bad for him. He knew what he was in for!

I wonder what happens when you run a 6# lower, ported blower and a 100 shot of juice on a real good dyno tune on stock bottom end..ummm nevermid :D

Later I need an reason to build a bottom end. The wife won't take the good ol " those viper trucks are getting fast" as a good enough reason to build mine.

TOTALLY understand that train of thought. This weekend I got a GREAT excuse the take the tranny out and build a monster T56 that will handle 1000 hp ;)

Sweet! I also run a trans that's good for 1,200pdft or tq! That happened about 3 months after owning my L.. :D

I have been there and done that.I ran a 10 lb pulley for a year and a half with a tuned chip,CAI,and IRIDIUM I-T 24 plugs.I always had detination that I could hear but could be over ruled by 60-40 ratio of 60% 100 oct,I only ran it hard at the track.Over 150 pass's.It finaly let go in downtown traffic at around 20 mph.Those stock rods suck.Mine was a 03 Harley truck 400 h.p to the rear wheels and consistant 13.00 1/4 mile.Was fun while it lasted :eek: :D .............You can hear his motor flatten out rite before it blew(pure detination)

Is that what a sc sounds like in the cab? That whine is horrible. I wanna hear the engine and exhaust not a whine like that!!! I remember Craig saying the whine of the paxton was a little irratating, if I am remembering correctly.
So how much $ damage is he in for now? Thats a bad feeling looking under that truck and seeing the oil drip like that. And whats up with the rolling start that he jumped?

in my truck you can hear the Exhaust in the passenger seat and the s'c whine in the drivers seat.

Stock Lightning bottom ends are good for about 450-475hp at the wheels.

I stopped at 435hp/522trq at the tires. I can't afford a bottom end right now, plus the G'F needs a ring.

The blower whine was cool as hell to me.Personal preference I guess.When your running upwards of 16 lbs boost and an open air filter it gets pretty high pitched.I loved it but now I love something else :eek: :D Totaly different roar in the SRT :D.....I found a 4,000 mile Lightning motor for $3500 and the swap out was $1750 labor wise.

There is a L guy at my track runs 12.7's all day every month and has lots of mods on it, chip, pully, headers, exhaust etc.... His sounds so fricken awesome running a pass down the track. The combination of the exhaust and sc is sound great. In that video it was all whine. I am not saying its all bad, I just wouldnt want to hear that all the time. I gotta hear the rumble man!!!

That blower whine is nothing compared to a centrifigal blower. I kind of miss the blower whine that my Cobra made ...it wasn't as loud as a centri blower but it was music to my ears.

I have had a turbo, Paxton and a 6-71. Of the three, I liked the sound of the 6-71 the best, but I do have to add one qualifier. I would not want to take a long trip with it.

The whine of the s/c is the best part, I fell in love immediately as I drove mine off the lot. Its only gotten louder and God knows how loud it will be when I get my 4 pounder and a tune. A ported Eaton = Music to my ears.
To each his/her own I guess.

I spent $8k on my built block,stage II heads, stage II cams, 60# injectors, dyno tune, R&R, and all the misc parts that go with it...

I ran a 10 lb pulley on my stock block for over a year and a half and nearly 150 pass's at the 1/4 mile.It was tuned by Johnny Lightning Perf and was great untill it through a rod.I've never heard of anyone getting that much life out of a stock block with as much boost as mine.Ultimatley it failed but what a killer year and a half it was :p
