Womsterr's Drag Run

This is from the weekend before last. 1/8 mile track. I'm still learning how to be a decent drag racer. I had the rpms too low first run so this run I tried 3,500rpm and just fried them off the line. I had to back off and regroup. Had some serious tranny issues too. Lost the tranny at the end of the run and due to that I had real problems in second. The other problem I had is that the start gate is at a small incline. I rolled back a couple inches and did not get a time. I still took the little WRX and would guess it was a high 8sec run.

Finding that sweet spot for launching a high torque manual trans vehicle, especially on street tires, is a whole lot tougher than it looks. There's no substitute for track time. I can hear in the video that 2nd was a little tricky for you. The main thing is getting out there and having fun.

What's the verdict on your trans?

What would be the best launching RPM's for a QC?

Sorry to hear about your trans :( Yes, launching is a *****, especially the first time. My first launch I spun like crazy and got a 2.6 60' Each additional run was able to bring it down. Practice, practice, practice.....Guess we all just need to spend more time at the track  :D

Thanks for the video ! ;)

I'm going to have the stock one repaired and seriously upgraded. I have "big plans" for the truck...with a new blower this month so I'm just going to get it done right....

That sounds good!!! Must have been a faulty tranny because we dont read about too many bad tranny stories, just clutch issues. Speaking of that, what are you gonna run there? Stocker + blower = clutch!!!!
