Chewed Up Crank ,,,

Ok my truck has had the harmonic balancer come lose and it chewed the end of the crank a lil bit.. it still looks fairly square , not rounded off at the end or anytingh...i never put anyting on it to see how much exactly its miss shaped.. but it well looks reasonably in shape... and since i have a truck with NO WARNTY due to importing reasons... i dont really have the 6 grand"canadian" to put in a new crank and harmonc balance ... do u think if i just put on a new harmonice balancer and tighten it up reall good.. it would be ok for now???? ummm anyideas ???????? let me konw thanx..

Considering the circumstances I'd give it a try. You've really got nothing to lose at this point.

Mines the same, been at Chrysler`s for the past 2 weeks. Visited the shop Wednesday to see whats going on and the shaft was a bit chuwed up on the end, but will clean up nice. There doing it as a recall, D19. Went in for the crank bolt recall they were finger tight ! This then required new crank damper and now crank sensor. Getting the truck back Monday and car`nt wait !
I`m in the UK- no warrantee here either, but incomplete recalls are covered, even over here. ;)

hmmmm recal eh... im gonna mention that to the dealer today.. and u say its a recal D19??? is that all i should tell them?

Give them your VIN number and they will be able to tell you if your truck has any out standing recalls. If they can do it for me they should do it for you.
I was a bit dubious to the dealers reaction, but everythings worked out fine so far.
As far as I`m aware, a recall is way different to other warantee claims.
The tech who`s working on my truck say`s another couple of days running around with the loose bolts would have done some serious damage :eek:

ok im gettin on that monday... but i have also found a fix for my crank aparently there is a key set u can get for the crank and harmonic balancer usualy used for the viper moters modded up... 66 bucks... and it locks the balancer inplace along with the bolt... so i will have no worries.. now... althougth now that this is happened im pissed and selling the truck and getting a new canadian 05 RC so i will have no more hassel....

would like to know where to get Kit you refered to[for balancer] :)

well the other day i got the $6000.00 estamate to fix my truck .. i was not impressed.. so i just started calling viper shops .. and came on here and found DC Performance.. gave them a call.. and i forget the chaps name but he told me exactly how to fix my problem and he will ship the part on monday ..66 us... so i will be calling monday .... ummm just call DC Performance .... neway long story short from 6000.00 to 230.00... for the same result.. i think ill go the 230 ... and aparently its quite a popular item... aparently all of the vipers have to get it done as soon as they get charged or nos any of the mods that turn out some serious HP.....
