Brought my RC to Powertrip Perf to have it dynoed before & after Volant installation. My truck is all stock except for Borla cat back. We ran about 8 pulls hood up, hood down, 3rd gear, 4th gear. I am posting a sheet. I have an 05 & the vent on the valve covers are in the front instead of the rear like 04. I had Volant send me a new intake tube that was undrilled. I added a nipple in the same side as the large nipple that is cast into the duct for my vent line (see photo). Overall the test didn't show much of a gain maybe 3 hp & torque dropped. I will have to see what difference it makes at the track later. It does sound good however :D

thats some news for sure 3 hp gain..thanks for the report. So with a Volant cai and Gibsons headers we can except a 6 hp gain.

Dude thats a lot of dough for meager gains!!!!
Was there ever a dyno done on the k and N setup before and after?

ohh ohh can i spend 800 canadian to lose some tq and gain 3hp.. ohhh can i can i ?? lol **** that i guess we knwo these systems are garbage... unless there is huge gains with the airflow off the dyno... now i think somoen smart lol shoudl get one of these and calculate windspeeds .. and get a system to feed it air at the same speeed the speedo is at and see what kinda gains we get... to mimic the real world as close as possible.. . maybe get yoru air hose crak it up to 120 psi .. make a funnel to the front of the hood .. get a wind speed meeter and go nuts.. maybe thats what we need to do ..

As I said on a couple other threads last week, DC performance also installed the Volant on my 05 RC last week and did A/B dyno runs. My truck was stock other than a magnaflow catback. My hp gain was similar depending on the run, i.e. maybe 3-6 hp gains; but I did also pick up a little more torque.....the sound improvement was the most notable change as well.

I really think the best intake for our trucks is the factory intake with a K&N or some other gauze filter. aac426 that for the great info. While the Volant looks nice (don't beat me up) and the Mopar kit looks AWESOME, neither are worth it unless you have forced induction in my opinion or the VECII. Biggest thing that hurts is the lack of a MAF setup as we have the speed density setup. To hard to get good gains without a second controller like the VECII or AEM.

Even with the VECII we saw minimal gains with the K&N system!!
I have to agree with Site, so far the stock set-up is the winner!!!(with a K&N drop in)

Just so ya know, the K&N drop in is rated for less air flow then the stock paper filter.

I noticed a seat of the pants imrovement with the Volant. It seems like I have more torque down low. When I first installed it and punched it in second gear, I got wheel spin which I never got with the stock airbox(just by hitting the gas in second at lower RPM's). Also, I get a lot more wheel spin in first when I nail it from a roll.. and I chirp in 4th now(shifting hard of course). I guess all of this means absolutely nothing if people are only getting 4hp.

This is an accurate statment when it comes to f-body LT1's also. Just about everybody that came in the shop had a K&N in it already and we would put a paper in and gain 1-5 hp almost every time.

Speed density... that cracks me up! I couldn't believe what I saw when I put my intake on. Is this popular with DC or is it just the Viper Motor?

Dodge has had speed density systems for all their vehicles as far back as 1983 including turbo systems. While it works it is not upgrade friendly and does waste performance in power as well as MPG.
