Alberta-SRT 09-01-2004, 09:58 PM Why would DC put a plain-ol silver metal radio antenna on a Black truck with black trim?
My 01 Grand Cherokee has a black coated antenna with a black trim ring over the retaining nut, fits the SRT perfect so I went down to the dealer and picked up some new pieces.
The truck looks way better with the antenna and chrome nut blacked out IMO.
Kevan 09-01-2004, 10:33 PM My Durango came with a plasti-coated black antenna....so those might work as well (junkyard cheapie).
I think that FireStick made a nice black anodized antenna as well. And I've seen some cool ones from some ricer sites. I'll let ya know if I come across them again.
begood 09-02-2004, 05:34 AM I and my friend who owns a silver "L" were looking at the ants, my black truck had a silver ant., his silver "L" had a black ant., so we switched. now we are both happy.
Hamrhead 09-02-2004, 02:05 PM I guess I never mentioned that I painted my antenna semi-flat black,, about 10 hours after I brought it home! First thing I did. Kinda forgot about it - Sorry I didn't share. ;) :D
italian1nj 09-02-2004, 02:38 PM I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who thought that antennae was crap. Since it is in the area where my ghost flames go I shaved it our and put an electric one in. Looks and works great.

I agree. I had a can of black spray on bed liner that I coated mine with. Looks a lot better.

Kevan 09-30-2004, 12:17 AM Just checking to see if anyone has found any replacement or custom/black/anodized antennas.
www.firestik.com has a few, but they're mostly CB-related, and 2' or taller. I was looking for a stubby one (12" or less), or a lo-profile one (like on the BMW 745 series cars).
TIA, guys.

Hemi57 09-30-2004, 08:04 PM took my antenna off. The antenna on my sirius radio goes on the roof. no need for an AM FM antenna

was your sirius radio installed at the factory? I don't want to have an antenna on the roof of my truck! I have xm in the truck i have now and the small antenna sits on the dash and is imho a cleaner look.
thanks...
Hemi57 11-13-2004, 07:49 PM yes, it was put on at the dealership. i dont like it on the dash. i think it looks great on the roof. it only sticks up like an inch and a half and it seems to fit well with the truck
my new cummins is too tall for anyone to see the roof unless they have a lifted truck
slbelt 11-25-2004, 10:30 AM California Car Cover (they sell more than that) have antennas that come in sizes: 12", 15" or 21" and in finishes: black, white, or polished. The prices are $18, $19, or $20 depending on the size. They also have a pretty cool flamed antenna, but the photo their web site doesn't do justice to it, you need to see the photo in the catalog.

Roktman 11-25-2004, 11:08 AM I got this one a couple of weeks ago: http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.cfm?PartID=38872&PartFamilyID=1058&SubCategoryID=286&CategoryID=25
clarman 08-16-2005, 12:03 AM does reception diminish as the length of the antenna gets shorter? 6 in vs 12in?
John Holmes 08-16-2005, 12:09 AM Remember, the radio antenna and the Sirus antenna are two different sorts.
(i.e. you want the antenna length at least 1/2 of the wavelength.)
Roktman 08-16-2005, 12:23 AM does reception diminish as the length of the antenna gets shorter? 6 in vs 12in?I have noticed a decrease in AM reception.Thinking about going longer than the 12 that I have.
mauiSRT/10 08-16-2005, 02:04 AM Rokt, does that just screw on or do you have to run a cable all the way to the radio?
