Default Anyone Had This Brake Problem Before

did a 15 minute drive at 65 mph all freeway....stopped and saw white smoke coming from the driver front brake pads only.....muther (brake housing, rotor, rim, etc) was so freaking hot it was smoking....from a dead stop, the truck normally will move 5 mph if I just take my foot off the brake, but at that moment it wouldnt do it....it seems/felt like the the driver side front brakes were "slightly on" or jammed on, versus off or being released....

i let it cool off.....took her home, pulled the wheel...and found nothing....no warped rotor, no more locking up, and have driven her 50 miles so far with no other problems....but I am worried...never had one brake on a car "lock on slightly" before while driving....any thing I am missing or need to be aware of?

MellowYellow in Tx....

$14.95 + Tax and Jeff will drive from Utah and pick it up.....

Really though, Low to Mid 20s would be about right for the market right now depending on the miles... I know that may not be what you want to hear but right now with the economy the way it is, that is about all you can get for them.

I'm having the exact same problem. 2005 SRT-10 Quad-cab. Front driver-side brake will not release completely and gets super hot. The first time it happened I replaced the brake pads (but only had the rotors machined slightly - they were almost at minimum thickness). Things were fine for about a couple thousand miles. Then, it happened again about a week ago. My mechanic is looking at it. Did you have to replace/repair the cylinder? I can't locate parts for the brake caliper. Anyone know of a good source?

both of you need a new caliper, rebuilding them is jsut a bandaid,

i would def buy a new caliper, bleed the enitre brake system, evidently you have gotten some type of contaminate in the fluid, especially if they sit awhile

and you will most likly need to replce the rotor, if it go that hot, it can cause hot spots or cracking of the rotor.

but bleed the system , front and back is a must, and the caliper sticking needs to be replaced.

as far as what its worth.

bud, the Ram SRT -10 trucks are endagered species, they are priceless

That happened to me too. My Tech said that the piston was slightly craked and it rusted thats why it was giving problems. I ended up changing the pistons and buying the rebuild kits from the dealer they are pretty cheap around 15 dollars.

You wouldn't happen to know the part number for the kit would you?
