the test drive was awkward. the battery in the truck was dead. the dealer couldn't find the jumper. i had to pull my own portable jump starter out of my trunk to get the truck started.

the good part about the test drive was the express way. i opened it up, but it didnt scare me. when i rode in my friends 05 regular cab a few years ago, it scared the hell out of me. he tapped the gas and the truck spun out. maybe its the weight.. The dealer wouldnt budge on the price. i shook his hand and walked away.

I hear ya, Im looking at buying a 2005 QC from carmax, and though they are asking 23 for it and its got 41k on her, its listed for excellent condition pricing, but id say its just in good condition...has a real squeaky belt and curb rash on 3/4 rims and they wont budge on the price either. as far as the trucks go, they RC is always going to be real squirrely compared to a quad cab due to shorter wheel base and light weight on the rear, but both trucks are still a blast to drive, I cant wait to try and score this 05 myself. Anyways, good move on walking away, you can always wait and maybe theyll be willing to deal if they dont move it quick

I agree with you, I test drove an 05 QC last year and it did not impress me but at the time I did have a heavily modded HEMI RAM. Then I found the one I have now, 04 RC 6spd and its a totally different animal, its in the weight and auto trans but if you get a good tune that auto will scream.... Looks nice but price seems high, I got my 04 with 68000mi for $17,500.00, I was lucky they could not find a buyer for it, started out at 22800 and 5 weeks later I grabbed it....

I walked away from an '06 QC at a dealer that had a huge exhaust leak, an exhaust drone, and was ragged out. I ended up with a beautiful '06 QC in well-cared-for condition, though it took me about 9 months. Stay patient and hold out for exactly what you want!

This man speaks the truth! If you don't absolutely instantly love it then walk away. Your truck is out there, if this ain't it you'll find it.

The First test for me is the "Butt Cheeks" test. Does it feel right when you sit in it? The right one will fell like it was made for you....

Learn the History of the Truck. Get the Vin and Pictures of the truck and post them here. Jeff, Viperam2, has the history on most of the trucks on/in the Viper Truck Registry. There are a lot of individuals that may have know the truck or its past. Did it ever have a SC or Turbo on it? Did it live 1/4 mile at a time?

Next Have them put it on a Lift and Look under it. Check for any leaks or stained parts where leaking may have been cleaned up. Power Steering, Oil Lines, Transmission Lines, Rear End..... Also look at the exhaust, is there signs of leaks or loose hangers.

Have a Viper Tech check it over. If it was ever Forced Induction, have a compression test and leak down test performed...

Check the Harmonic Ballancer Retainer Bolt on the front of the engine. They do have a bad habit of getting loose....
