At times, my 05, manual will not return to an idle of 600-750. Instead ir has been up to 2000. What could be the ptoblem?

Mines an 04 and had the same problem.especially after a car wash. The problem was that water was getting inside the sensor attached to the throttle body . i just took it off cleaned it. And put some electric grease on it . and also cleaned the thtottle body and it has never done that again so far . its been almmost 2 years of that. Good luck
