You all were so helpful to me when I was truck shopping, and now that I have mine, I thought I'd try to return the favor. Just finished putting an alarm/remote start in my truck, and since the DEI Techsheet for the Ram didn't really cover the SRT-10 well, I thought I'd share some info. For background purposes, I installed a Python 872 with an XK531 bypass kit. Very easy install, if you can install a stereo, you can probably do this...IF you have the right instructions. Of course, your mileage may vary, feel free to use/ignore this info as you see fit, and this will only work on 2005 QC models. Under the dash, coming from the steering column, there are 4 12-ga wires. They are as follows:
RED - constant +12 volts
PINK/WHITE - Ignition
PINK/GREEN - Ignition 2
PINK/YELLOW - Ignition 3
There are also a few smaller gauge wires, 14 and 16. The important ones are as follows:
PINK/YELLOW - Accessory
PINK/BLUE - Accessory 2 (if you don't power this wire, your climate controls will not work during remote starting...ask me how I know!)

The starter wire is at the switch, it is a 12-gauge YELLOW/PINK wire.

Additional necessary wires:
Door triggers are in driver (for driver side) and passenger (for passenger side) kick panels, and they must be diode isolated from each other:

LF: PURPLE
LR: PURPLE/ORANGE
RF: PURPLE/WHITE
RR: PURPLE/YELLOW

Parking light wire is WHITE/LT GREEN at the switch, must be sent a ground signal through a (roughly) 590 ohm resistor.

For questions about the resistor or diode isolating, PM me or respond and I can go into further detail if anyone is interested.

Ok, that's all the big stuff. Again, not sure if anyone even cares, but there you go if you do. I also installed a window automation system if you need wiring info for that. Thanks again for all the help guys, and I hope at least somebody wants this info.

Wow that is a great post. I have a python 571x that I had pulled from my Sierra that has been sitting in the garage for a couple of years. I was wondering how hard the install would be. I think you just gave me the confidence to try the install! Much appreciated (I might be PMing you in the next couple of weeks for some other tips).

Congratulations on the new ride

I may have forgotten already, so, what did you finally decide on...

Color, year, pics........etc

2005 Quad Cab, red to match the car. Sunroof/Tonneau cover, aftermarket DVD/Nav/iPod/backup camera. 31,xxx miles, bone stock except a K&N drop in. Really want painted mirrors and handles.

Diode isolation: The door trigger wires send a negative (ground) signal to the truck when the door is open. There are 4 wires, one for each door as mentioned above. They must be isolated from each other electrically when connected to the alarm or they will mess with the alarm and the electrical system in the truck...won't break anything, but it will act funny. So...get yourself a few diodes from Radio Shack or what have you, IN4001, IN4004, IN4007, whatever...put them in-line with the wires you connect from the door trigger wires to the alarm. The white stripe MUST face towards the factory truck wire. So, for each trigger wire in the truck, it should be: diode (stripe towards truck), wire. Then connect all, four of those wires together at the negative door trigger input of the alarm.

Also: to do this install, you MUST use a bypass kit of some sort...I recommend the XK531...made the install way easier, since I had to connect about 6 fewer wires. Total time was about 5 hours, mostly because I didn't connect one of the accessory wires and couldn't figure out why the AC wasn't working. I have been installing stereos and alarms for about 15 years though...mostly as a hobby, professionally from 1995 to 2000.

Absolutely GREAT post, Jeff this may have to go into the "How To" section for future refrence... Thanks a lot for the time, effort and instructions..

With electrical experence like this you need to be here more often, there are a 1000 questions that will come your way. You are now one of the OFFICIAL Subject Matter Experts (SME).... :)
