Yet so many ppl keep talking about Lightnings running low 13's bone stock when we say our SRT 4s can run with the lightning? The SRT 10 runs 13.8's so what's up? I'm guessing that these low 13's SVT's aren't as "stock" as they say they are... Agian I'm not being a **** here... just really confused

Also as a side note, ppl wrote in bitching that they didn't include the SVT in their sport truck comparo in a previous issue. Motor Trend said "As we stated [before], we thought clearly enough, the Lightning is a lame duck, destined for early retirement until it reappears later on the new 2004 f-150 foundation. For this test, it wasn't relevant. Certainly, we'll revisit this shootout when we can get a new lightning." The shootout was the '03 SRT-10 vs the SS Silverado...

i think 13.8 is very conservative, i believe we will be pleasantly suprised when the mag. test #'s come out!

Haven't seen any L running low 13s. Don't let them kid you. My friend that works here has the latest version. More like low 14 or high 13s depending on octane and driver.
Sport Truck has these results for their SRT-10:

1/4 mile: [email protected]
0-60: 5.37 sec
60-0: 138.83 feet (zero fade, the hotter tests were actually shorter then the cold)
slalom: 62.5 mph

they ran it to 145mph and it was still pulling when they ran out of track

There are not any showroom stock L's that have ever run 13.12 and here is only the 2nd test I have seen on a SRT-10 and it has beat the best ever pure stock run by any owner or magazine test of a L, ever. They say it's definately just a set of slicks away from being easily into the 12's.
What the numbers imply

13.1 and 108 mph on a 5150# truck imply horsepower figures in the neighborhood of 540...

:D

Watch the Mopar catalog with aftermarket goodies coming soon for this truck.

Being the owner of 3 lightnings I can perhaps give you some answers. Stock lightnings, '01 and newer, run stock times ranging from 13.4 to about 13.9, usually around 103mph. There are extremes but those are average for the most part. Those times range so much do to air quality (temperature and humidity)and track prep. 60ft times usually don't go below 1.90 stock and run up to 2.2's and higher. Being supercharged, the lightnings are far more sensitive to air quality than normally aspirated engines. Stock vs stock the Dodge will kick butt!! If you loose, then the Lightning was modded. $800 worth of mods will yield a lightning that runs mid to high 12's all day in good air. From there, it doesnt take much more money to run low 12's. Again, if you see taillights you know it was modded.

Being the owner of a Lightning, I can tell you it would take mods to get to the low 13's. It's funny how the Lightning forums love to boast that their trucks are faster than the times Ford provides, yet some can't accept the fact that the SRT-10 is in the same situation. Hoping that the times the Dodge got in Sport Truck & the latest issu of M/T are more reflective on the trucks potential than some of the times mags such as Truckin & Truck Trends got.
I have no doubt that some of the SRT-10's will run into the high 12's stock, of course a lot depending on track conditions and driver skill. However, my stock lightning ran 13.65 its first time at the track. With a chip, filter and lower pulley i ran 12.76. With the addition of a T/B, electric fan, traction bars and Nitto555s, I ran a 12.52. Just like in many other forums, owners usually best the times posted by many magazines. Although many lightning owners refuse to accept the power of the dodge, I look forward to the horsepower wars between the companies. Because if there was no lightning , I'm sure there would not have been an SRT-10. My local dealer has a red SRT-10 coming in and I have the first shot at buying it. All i can say is i can't wait to drive it!

Well said...04 will be fun...

I had a white '00 L that went 13.62 completely stock, which I traded for my '02 L that went 13.44 with a K/N and nothing else with 20" wheels. With a 4lb. lower and a chip it went a [email protected] I would agree it takes mods. to get low-13's, but those mods will produce solid 12's (for about $400). Just sharing my observations. I'm also glad to see Dodge building this truck, rivalry is a good thing. ;)
I am not trying to start anything and i will be the firsts to admit that my truck is a freak but my 2000 lightning totally stock ran a 13.3. Just letting you know that there are some out there that do low 13's stock but it is rare.
Hey before you guys bash me, I am so happy that someone has finally put out another performance truck to make this market interesting. Chevy screwed up big time. That being said, I am the proud owner of a 2001 L that did a 13.3 stock and with one mod did a 12.8. I know this isn't the norm but they are out there. Again, glad to see another sweet truck out there. Hope to see some soon on the road. We should not only make this a rivalry but we should get our communities together sometime to share some track time. You guys take care and enjoy the trucks.

I ran 1.956 60ft, 13.157 @ 104.29 (04, SBlue) stock (01-10-04) and I'm not kidding ;)

No mods at all, not broken in. Only had it 3 weeks at the time...

edit: It's a lightning...

I'm not here to boast. I am proud, and had to defend the lightnings out there when someone says they run low 14's hehe....

Two guys in a row join and post that their Ls ran 13.3 bone stock but that both know it is rare.

Man that seems fishy! LOL

MAKE THAT THREE IN A ROW EXCEPT THIS ONE IS CLAIMING A TIME THAT WOULD MAKE HIM THE QUICKEST STOCK L EVER!

It's the quickest lightning to get posted. I'm sure there are some out there that are faster...
