2005 QC Drag Times

Well just returned a few minutes ago from the first track night with the QC, here are the times:

First Run - Just cleaned off the tires, skipped the water, shallow staged and

13.86 @ 101.72

Second Run - Same prep, but left the hood up between runs and cooled the engine off dramatically

13.64 @ 103.08

Third Run - Tried the same, but the staging lanes were full and the engine was up to 200 by the time we went.

13.96 @ 100.81

The temp tonight was hovering around 60, and this truck is bone stock, nothing done to it at all.
Damn these trucks run!

I can only imaging what it's like running the RC, but I truly enjoy the QC.

Besides if I want to shift I can always bring out the 10 sec stang and bang the gears.

Anyone else out there run their QC yet?

I don't know what you guys see at the track from L owners ( I see quite the gab on this forum from them) but at the track there was nothing but respect for the big girl (tipping the scales at almost 6000 lbs).

Excellent run :D

Hopefully I get to the track this year but before I do I need to master the 2 to 3 shift as well as slipping the clutch off the line.

Great info!

What RPM did you launch at?

What light did you leave on?

What were your 60' times?

Did you leave it in Drive and let it shift automatically?

Thanks,
KB
Great Runs there QckSlvr!! Couple of good mods and youl be knocking on the door for 12's!!

Hows the tranny shifting? Getting wheel spin in second? I'll bet once there is a programer developed that addresses your shift points and firmness those #,s will drop again!!

What track did you go too?? May have to make a trip down there one day!!

Good Luck!!

This is great info. thanks! We are going to try to get our SRT QC to the track tomorrow. With the cold air intake and exhaust mods it feels like a 13.4 @ 106 mph truck. We will see what the timeslip says tomorrow.
I left the line pretty easy, probably only 1600-1800, it was hard to tell how the 22's were going to bite.

I left when I saw the third yellow, but r/t wasn't great as I was shallow staging each time. I mean barely turning on the second amber. It gvies good rollout, especially with these big tires, but you suffer in your r/t.

As for shifting John H is right this truck does the job by itself, it could be slightly improved, but put it in D and leave it alone, no need to even push the tow button.

Here's the numbers for that best run:
r/t - .185
60 - 2.14
330 - 5.797
1/8 - 8.82 @ 80.78 mph
1000 - 11.44
1/4 - 13.64 @ 103.08

oh, yeah I think silver is the fastest color!
Great run Qck!!!!!!!!!!!!! 13's on your first trip.....was tire spin a problem...doesnt sound like it...good job!!

patrick
Nice to see the good numbers. Just goes to show that Dodge should have made an Automatic option on the regular cab. Every stock truck could be running low 13's/high 12's.. Shows the stock Lightnings out there (if there are any STOCK Lightnings left :) ) that even the Quad Cab is a force to be reconned with.

I will have the cold air kit on order soon, but don't know that too much more is in store for this truck. I'm pretty happy with a 4 door truck running 13.50's. Was really fun beating up on the mustangs and camaros that night. Funny thing was that out of 4-5 SRT4's at the track none of them were even running this fast, and I thought those things really moved.

Tranny shifts great, I just left it in D and didn't do a thing. What kinda sucked is that I thought the truck was truly a 14.0 to 14.2 based on published numbers from some of the better magazines out there (C&D for Jan 05 has it at 14.2) so I left my helmet at home thinking all was ok for the night. Man was I wrong, but Damn it what did C&D test, did they run the truck in Reverse or something. I'm no pro driver, I do ok, and having the quick mustang helps, but what the hell were they driving in that magazine.

My local track is Moroso Motorsports park in West Palm Beach, FL. Not the best track in the world, but better then Orlando or Bradenton for FL.

I am really intersted in John H's numbers for his Silver QC, with his mods, they might have gotten in to the 13.20's last night. Not sure if he has Long tubes on that yet, but I'm sure from his post yesterday they are not far off.

A bit of advice for whoever wants it. DO NOT RUN IN SPORTSMAN class if you can prevent it. Run Dial In or No Times if your track offers that on Test and Tune nights. Also, skip the water box, go around it and clean the tires off in front of it, so that you have no water on them, these trucks DO NOT NEED WATER TO SPIN THE WHEELS. There are some good rides in Sportsman class, but Sportsman is filled with every kind of crappy car you can imagine. In D/I or N/T you have many guys around you running slicks or at least Drag Radials so the line will be full of grip when you launch. In sportsman hardly anyone has D/R's even and all of them think that rolling through the water box and burning up street tires is going to help them launch.

Yeah you got that right. Problem with the track I went to is theres no room to go around the water box, To make maters wores, the road leading into the track is all dirt, so anyone who drives their ride in brings dirt into the box. It looks like a mud pit by the end of the night.

Needless to say I will be searching for a new track.

Were you able to get to the track this weekend. I am very interested to see what numbers you had with the CAI kit and cat back system?

Family stuff came up so I could not get to the track. I may go out of town this weekend, so it may not be til next week til I get there. We have a bone stock SRT QC coming into the shop in a few days. So we can compare them at both the track, dyno and from a roll. Should be lots of good info. soon.
