Hadn't driven my truck for a week. Went to start it and Key won't turn tried turning steering wheel both ways but still couldn't get key to turn. Steering wheel finally locked but no key release.
Anyone have ideas. Oh, I also disconnected battery and reconnected still no go.

It is an auto trans. I finally rocked the truck back and forth by hand and that released the ignition. Do you think that means it wasn't in park?

That would be correct, may need a cable adjustment, don’t ask how that’s done as I have no idea, I learned from a transmission guy way back in 2007. Mine didn’t need an adjustment, luckily. Never happened a second time
