As far as I can tell the diff carrier and even the diff clutch plates are the same part number for both the 04 and 05. I don't know why they are trying to sell you a "powerlock carrier"? The part number you posted is also what I found for the 05 4.56 gears.
When I spoke with Devin @ Unitrax he yold me in order to install 4.56's, all we need is the ring&pinion and the install kit. He also said that if you want to install a lower gear than 4.56(4.88;5.13 etc), then you'll need a new carrier.

So the place you called gave you prices of $190 for gears and $130 for the installation kit. Pretty close in price to the 4.56 kit BOOMER found at Jegs from Richmond Gear. He posted part numbers as well.

I want to wait and see how it works out for him. In fact, I may wait until Spring now, as my truck won't be driven until the weather gets better.

Hey Guys,my 2-cents the 4.56s,there is not much difference between 4.1o-4.56.
I think for the track,we should be running max out in 4 th gear,which is probably close to the 4.88s

What's most important to you? 1/4 mile, street,smoke shows?
Actually all of the above :D probably what i'm hoping for is mid to low 12's and still be able to bury the speedometer......too much to ask?

Assuming you will be staying with stock wheels/tires, then you will want 4.56 gears. You could get away with 4.88 for low 12's and the smoke show but maybe not bury the speedometer.
9 Seconds,

Do you think the 4.56 `s will make a big difference in accelleration on the street? My mechanic doesn`t think so and would take maybe 3-4 mpg off the highway mileage.

I just don`t know if it is a worthwile mod in addition to what I have done and with adding the VEC 2 this month.

how the heck is a change from 410-to456 going to change your mileage by 3-4MPG,DON'T BUY IT, WE HAVE A 6 SPEED MAN

Someone with a 2005 RC, what are your MPG number on your window sticker? I can't see how they could be much lower than they already were. My only experience is going from 3.07 to 3.45 on my Viper. That was noticable. Plus, I think Dodge made the change in the '05s to take some stress off the clutch and/or trannies (I'm sure it wasn't purely better performance) which would be a plus also. I also agree with gearheadbill in his post farther up.

Hey 05 RC guys! Can one of you measure your trucks driveshaft diameter. I believe they are sized different because they will be spinning at a higher rpm at 150 mph? Gracias.

Window sticker say 9 City 15 Highway (2005 SRT-10)

I get about 10 city and 15 highway

Those who plan on Supercharging, along with other Mods, need to keep that in mind when choosing the right gear ratio. If you go with a 4.88, you may hit the redline in 4th gear before the end of the 1/4 mile!! I would think that with a SC, trap speeds in the 1/4 should be in excess of 115mph? Add in headers/exhaust, VEC2, etc. and you may need the stock 4.11's to get through the 1/4 mile in 4th! :D

Can one of our Math Majors do some quick calculations as to what RPM we'll be turning in 4TH Gear at 100mph; 110mph; 120mph with 4.56's AND 4.88's???
(Hey GearHeadBill, wanna take your truck on a Banzai run up to these speeds and tell us what RPM's you're turning with the 5.13's?? :cool: )

I honestly don't know how 5th gear would work out on the strip?? :confused:

Just thinking out loud again ;)
4.10 gears
100 = 4360
110 = 4796
120 = 5250

4.56 gears
100 = 4850
110 = 5335
120 = 5820

4.88 gears
100 = 5193
110 = 5712
120 = 6232 (not possible)
