As you can see to fit a 15" rim on a lightning, CONSIDERABLE grinding is required. That is why most Lightnings run 16" rims for slicks. There are less choices with a 16" compared to a 15" rim. The owner says it is safe, but I consider brakes the most important part of a truck.

So I'm not complaining about the srt-10 in regards to limited choices for rear drag slicks. Just wondering what you can fit on the rear and still be safe.
I have never seen AFTER-MARKET calipers that are shaved this thin.

The srt comes with 22? fitting a 16" rim over the rotor and caliper will be interesting.

Does anyone know the smallest rim that will fit?

It won't work , as the calipers on a Viper , which are smaller will not even accomodate a 17 in. rim. It will probably be 6-12 months before something is available, which is in line for things that came out for the Lightning when first introduced ( Supercharged model ).

bill, there are no aftermarket calipers for a lightning that would allow the use of a 15" rim, 5 years after its introduction.

There are some 18" drag radials from Nitto, though I have no idea if an 18" rim will even fit on the srt-10.

Its not much for selection, but if they fit, at least there is one option.

Sorry, Wikdsvt, I wasn't very clear, and I apologize. What I meant, was ,it will probably somewhere in that time frame before we see a rim come out that would fit around the rear calipers. Some of you may want to call John Purner as Custom Wheel (386-258-0083 ) as he is very well known in racing circles, and has done rims for Vipers ( both strip and road race ) as well as the Grand American Series, Viper Racing League, World Challenge Series, and a host of folks running SCCA Solo II. He has a great following with Viper Drag Racers , as he does a wheel that fits around the caliper, and is in a size easy to find slicks for. Who knows, he may become a new connection for Lightnings and SRT-10s?!

PS - His prices are very competitive for what he does.

I'm trying to work with Sam Sloan of Dilusi for a Willwood setup that will accomodate 16's and possibly 15's. There are so many more choices if you can go with a 15. I've discussed similar mods with TNT on the Viper. Mickey Thompson has recommended a few tires in the 15/16" range and how to use them in a 5000+ lb. truck. It's going to take some time though to get it right.

Not sure but I thought the rear rotors on the SRT-10 were the same size as on the 2500 series Rams. If that's true then wouldn't the 17" wheels fit? Not like that's a big help as there are really no 17" drag tires or slicks in anything taller then a 27"!
