my check engine light came on today... i drove the truck to the dealer, they couldn't fix it today, they are messing with it tommorow, but the comp said it was something that has to do with the emissions. I noticed other people have had the same thing happen. Anyone know what it really is?

Make sure your gas cap is on correctly. If it is loose or not on it will cause a leak in your pressurized fuel system which will set the light.

if it was loose or off, tighten it and the light will go off in about 20-50 miles
tried that

i tried that... it didn't help....
has anyone else had this problem?
emissions =

Fuel System problems
O2 Sensors
EGR system

What did your dealer say was the code found in the PCM ?

Site
code

i don't remember the actual code, but he said that it had something to do with emisions and not the engine.
I have noticed that since the engine light has been on, the car has not been as powerful.... which sucks....
Did they say they have parts on order? How did they leave it with you and why would they let you leave with a malfunctioning vehicle?

Mine came on with two trucks, one was an o2 sensor, the other was a vacuum hose they reconnected loosely after the cambolt recall. Engine missed and backfired, then the light came on.

johnj, have you put on the magnaflow by any chance? When I first put mine on, I had unplugged the battery, and installed the magnaflow exhaust. After a day of driving, my check engine light came on. I checked with Larry and he said he hadn't hear of the problem. So that night I disconnected the battery until the next morning, plugged her in and haven't had the problem since.
If you turn your key off and on (3) times in a row without starting her...she will give-up the code...OD window will show code #'s
Mine went on too....and it was right after a bat. disconnect for a mod install.
Like any computer, it doesn't like disconnect! Remember HAL !!!!!

Quick;-)
its fixed...

they said it must have been a faulty sensor.... wierd.
engine light

Mine turned out to be a fuel leak detection pump. I have no idea where it is or what it does. The dealer told me as long as the engine check light was not flashing it was ok to dirve. they fixed the "pump" runs fine now. :)
