Got a New SRT QC from Mike Robbins

This week we got a Ram SRT Quad Cab for the shop. I have a few comments on this truck:

1. Mike Robbins of Ringgold Dodge in Ringgold, GA was great to deal with and his price cant be beat (bought at invoice around $44k). If you are looking for great service and pricing you owe it to yourself to see what Mike can do for you. Here is his email address: [email protected]

2. I am impressed with the overall truck - its utility and ease to drive and its performance - same great brakes as on the 2dr and I find the auto to be very impressive from a 50 mph roll on.

3. Anybody in Houston with a bone stock 2 dr. want to line them up for a few tests? I think that the consistency of the auto will give it an edge in real world performance.

4. If some of you with the auto think its a bit sluggish down low, then I suggest that adding more power will wake it up. We plan to prove this point very soon ;)

5. This truck will have our Venom 800 Twin Turbo system on it very soon. And it will be available for sale as a complete vehicle in Feb.

I will report new info. about tweaks for the auto as we begin turning up the power level.

Hey John I was just in dallas but I don't think my 550hp 13spd Western Star could do much with the QC!lol :D
The QC hauls 2 adults, 5 kids and a dog pretty well too.
John: Are you going to come out with a programmer? This tranny needs work! Thanks.

We are begining testing this week on a number of things. I dont think there is going to be any kind of a software or computer fix for the auto. Based upon the way it feels stock, I think it will respond best to adding power. Then once the power is turned up we will look at doing a shift kit in the trans. along with a torque converter upgrade. Both of these being mechanical upgrades.

Personally, I thought that the auto would not feel as fast as the stick. But once I drove the auto that theory went out the window. The auto can be a bit tricky to launch but once rolling its really impressive to me. I think the auto would pull half a truck on a stick 2dr. from a 50-100 mph roll on.

Medi - its silver.

Also, another observation - fuel econ. If you are looking for good fuel econ, then the QC is not your first choice. I have seen the 2dr. stick go 80 mph and get 18 mpg due to the fact that the 2004 had a 4.11 gear and 0.50 6th gear ratio. The QC on the other hand is turning just under 3000 rpm at 80 mph where the 6speed is turning maybe 2000 rpm. So blasting around town I am getting about 9 mpg overall. If I slow down on the highway to 65 mph I can see possibly getting 14 mpg. But cruising at 80 its only going to get 11-12 mpg on a road trip. Fuel econ. advantage goes to the 6-speed and especially the 2004's with the 4.11 gear (as opposed to the snappy 4.56 2005's).

More observations, dyno tests and acceleration tests and data to come soon.

Hi John...

I too have the 05' QC. I don't know if all of them come standard with the "tow/haul" button on the end of the shift lever, but I have improved my in town mpg by pushing in the button. This keeps it from shifting into overdrive at very low RPM so I tend not to lug the motor quite as much.

I'd be interested in the improvements you can find for the bottom end of the automatic. That's the only true complaint I have. Otherwise I can't wait till it stops raining and snowing here in Vancouver!

Ernie....
I have been to the dealer twice to look at the QC, and it is bigger than I thought. My girl likes it for the height and looks, but I thought it might look a little better lower.....are they going to make a kit to lower it.....and the dealer here wants 51K for it..........John was that a price just for you ?????
The RC is allready lowered, and most owners have lowered the rear with blocks about 2'' to level it out. The QC isn't lower from the factory and has normal QC stance so it should be able to be lowered with the same kit as normal QC's. As for the price, that sounds like MSRP and you should be able to get one lower. Depending on where you live, you can call Bill Pemberton and he should be able to help. I know Fred at Empire in Wilkesboro NC has quoted me invoice or close to it on a QC, just waiting to sell my new HEMI before I get one. Do some checking around, you may have to drive a little, but it could save you $. Good Luck and if you need any help just ask. :D

Hey John are you in Texas? Iknow its probably somewhere but just to lazy to look, but just wondering where at, and if you have room for a tractor and trailor, well flatbed. But if so I'll stop in the next time I'm down.
Houston, TX

Yes we got room for a rig out here no problem.
Great next time I'm down I'll give you a shout. thanks!
Emailed Mike Robbins, he will sell at invoice to anyone. I'm really looking forward to getting my SRT-10. How early do I need to order if I want it ready be June 1st?
Mike Robbins is "da man"

Thanks to John Hennessey for posting Mike's name and number. He's awesome to work with - a real go-getter. I'm working with him now and he has lots of good SRT-10 contacts. I'm hoping we can put together a deal real soon.

Another reason this SRT-10 Forum is so great. Thanks again.
