heat issue resolved

hey guys. i messed with my truck last nite & figured a way to lower the coolant temp. i put in a ss speed grill & noticed they (dc) block off half of the inlet air in the grill itself with plastic panels. on of them is to direct air to the airbox, but they both are to keep air channled to the radiator do it dosent go around it. the proble with the way they did it it cuts down on the available airflow to the radiator. i removed those and i am using abs to block the openings to the left and right of the radiator, so that way ALL of the air enters the grill & then is directed to the radiator & i am molding the left piece to form a housing for a cold air induction system. pics will be soon. since i have done this my coolant shows about a 10-15 degree drop! also soon i will be replacing the coolant with Engine Ice coolant. we put it in our race bikes & it works wonders, not to mention it is biodegradable & perfect for aluminum.
this is a simple fix & works great. i will have pics tonite!-boomer

you have to block off the sides of the radiator, as airflow will take the path of least resistance-around the radiator.

In traffic, the fan still won't come on until after 200. What was Seans experience on Vipers with the 180? I'm interested.

I did not talk to sean, went to his website..had new products listed for SRT-10,also has a fan controller to turn on fans early..i guess the 180 thermostat will not help cool with the fans coming on at 200..
Note: I just replaced the whole cooling system in my Durango, save for the radiator, and installed a 180F thermostat (original was 195F). My engine runs nice and cool all the time now. It's very happy.
I, however, am cold. :) When you drop the thermostat temp, you increase the amount of time it takes for the vehicle cabin to warm up. With summer coming up, who cares. But when it snowed last week, that sucked.

Boomer- I watched a hometown boy of yours on TV tonight: John-Michael Liles, Evansville, IN. Rookie of the year in my book.
Boomer lets see a pic of that grille.

ok tell me i am stupid. how do i post pics on the forum.?
When you reply hit "manage attachments" and add the picture file from your computer. If you don’t have that option then post them to a gallery on another site and then select the "insert image" logo (by the font settings) and add the web address of the picture location.
If you need pics hosted, email me. I've got unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth on our site.

thanks joey & Kevan. i will take some pics this week & hope to have them on their by sat. is there a limit to how many? i was going to shoot everthing, grill, cooling system, vec2, airintake, exhaust, etc. :D
Shoot it all. I'll bust out a quick HTML page for the pics. With each pic, send a one-line description. It'll be a piece of cake.
