Ideal Performance Recipe for Ram SRT-10

This may be the subject of a previous thread, if so please point me to it.

I have 2005 QC Ram SRT-10, 1200 miles Silver (I have read hear that it IS the fastest color). I bought it a toy and I am ready to play! What would be the ideal steps for performance enhancement? I have learned from you guys that "it doesn't mean a thing without the numbers!!" so, considering dyno and or track testing between steps, what order of mods would show the best story.

For Instance: I have also learned that after stock base line testing a VEC2 is a "no brainer" and it sounds like a good first step? Y/N? Then cold air induction? Or header/Exhaust? Now I see talk of a Billet Throttle Body, when or should this fit in? This is all could be leading to a SC, but not right away. Any Comments?

It appears that the K & N air system is popular but the Hennesey is prettier and more $$ (available?). I am not sure of the clear choice for Headers/Exhaust systems for a QC.

well the vec 2 is a must for tuning, on a stock truck they are rich on bottom end, you should gain 60+hp on bottom and about 5hp on top. But it gives you adjustablility for constant upgrades. Long tubes are from $1800 to $3000 give best torque and hp, shorties are$800 or so I think but give reasonable hp. Magnalfow and borla make great cat backs. If you are looking for bling bling get the hennessy cold air, but the kn works great and womsteer has a group buy going on.Some of the best gains have been coming from getting rid of or replacing the cats with high flows. Boomer would be a great person to contact on the exhaust, Roe racing on the vec 2. So figuring starting at 420rwhp,10hp for cold air, 15 for cat back, 5hp on top vec2, 35hp for headers, and being realistic 15hp for the cats, one should or could end up around the 480-500rwhp mark. Now these are just averages, but with just simple modifications, the truck will be greater fun than it allready is. MOFO also can get a full system, and Bill P. can also help on headers, as well as John H. Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. The forum really adds another dimension to an already great experience. I appreciate the '04ers patience and help with the new '05ers....our task has been made much easier by your pioneering!

When you talk about the Magnaflow are you talking about with or without headers?
The magnaflow is from the catalytic convertors back, basically the free flowing muffler out. nice noise very throaty, sporty, it gives Maui an island woody!
