Lightning ran a SRT-10 on the streets

Guess we'll have to wait for 9seconds to confirm this.
I remember it a little differently. I'm on HWY 6 and traffic is fairly heavy. In my rear view I see this silver ford weaving through traffic to catch up with me. Finally he does and he gets in a couple of Mustang lurches before getting shuffled back in traffic. As we are leaving city limits the traffic lightens up and he's back next to me. Knowing it's inevitable I look over, smile and give a hand gesture (not that one). It turns out the guy in the silver ford is a really decent enough looking kid in a Lightning. He looks like he'd like to see how the SRT runs so when I can, I change lanes to go around the last car for a stretch and run it through a couple of gears. When he sees what's up, he comes along too. Soon we're back into traffic. I looked over, gestured and see him wanting me to role down my window. That's when he asked if I had been to the track. Not a big deal.
Hey 9 sec

Let me know the next time you are coming down my way. Family pic time!!!

Stories always have two sides.. it could have been worse tho.... You could have lost by 20 bus lengths, etc.. Sounds like a reasonable story from both ends!

Damn, we need some better smilies on here.
I'm the guy with a silver L. Both stories are pretty much exactly the same. We never really raced. I was jumping him just to see him go. I also wanted to see how i could compare. The fact that 9seconds didn't pull on me is backed up by his/my 13.5 1/4 mile time, though I'm sure with a little practice can be improved with the 500hp motor. It was all in fun and I liked his truck. I wasn't writing it as a kill story, just as a story that i hung with a viper truck. There's so much controversy over the rivalry of these two trucks, and our story was just some factual information that finally was esablished.

I know. The kill part was added by others. It was fun and I'd do it again. Drag race laws have gotten tough here in Texas so I don't think I'll being doing much of that. That's my story.
Hey 9seconds nice to see a pretty good baseline 13.5, not bad for not broke in and, we all know very little seat time in a new truck. Can't wait for latter this summer after it's broke in, and yours shouldn't be suffering Heatstroke like ours do. should make for a fun summer, wish I was there instead of shoveling snow :D

I know this is still a new board but it's so nice without the KIDs LOL
grr.. I gotta Find one so we can Play hehehe :D
Not wanting to sound ignorant....

What is an "SYRC"??????

yeah, kids suck..... :D
Cool

You'd be shocked at how guys are talking about this encounter (not even a street race) on NLOC. They are using it to measure the maximum possible potential for the SRT10. LOL

Best statement would have to be, and someone really said this, that because you drive a 9 second Viper you shouldn't have anything to learn about driving the truck. LOL!

When exactly, 9 seconds, do you plan on hitting the track? Can't wait for some times when you're more used to it and it's broken in!
Driving a 9 second Viper is easy. With the right combination of engine and suspension work you just rev to 3500 and let out on the clutch as you floor the gas. I left out relax, concentrate and don't shift from 3rd to 2nd but you get the idea.
I'm not sure about making it back to the track soon. I'm putting in some hours at work right now. Local track (1/8 mile) re-opens in Feb.

Is this the kit from one of the Mopar vendors out of Florida (name escapes me)?

I'm not bashing or doubting I just have a question about the SRT-10.

If you rev it up to 3500 and let out the clutch as you floor the gas REPEATIVELY on the SRT-10, WILL the CLUTCH HOLD UP?

I know the Viper wears through clutches pretty fast, and I'm not sure if the SRT-10 has an upgraded clutch as compared to the viper or not. I'm assumming they would to compensate for the 5100 lbs.

Is it the same clutch or not?

You know that? I didn't.

Are you talking Vipers or what? I never wrote I would launch a truck like that.

Sorry if I come off harsh to you but I am aware of your trolling on SRT sites. Every post is anti SRT Ram and made to point out a Ram weakness or a Ford advantage. We don't want that here. We want people who can contribute.

I know when you rent one (VIPER) in Vegas, they tell you that if you start smelling a burning clutch to return it immediately .

I know the guy told me that he had to replace a few clutches and they were very expensive, so if I started smelling a burning clutch to bring it back and I wouldn't be charged for "damage".

I know that he wasn't happy about replacing the clutch twice on a car that had under 25,000 miles on it.

I know that guy wasn't happy about how the clutches were "failing" to quote him.

I know he wasn't too happy when I pulled out of the parking lot sideways and did a burnout, sidestepping the clutch through the gears

So back to my question:
Is it the same clutch, or did dodge upgrade it to compensate for the 5100 lbs?
