Happy New Year!
I hope everyone is having a good new year so far. I installed the Magnaflow catback on my 05 RC RAM SRT10 during the holidays and figured I would share a few pointers.
Overall its was a fairly easy installation. You could do it by yourself but is much easier with two people. I did it without a lift or jacking up the truck.
I sprayed some WD40 on each of the existing stock exhaust slip joints and waited 30 mins (about 2 beers) for it to soak in.
Sprayed silcone on each of the rubber hanger mounts, it really helps on sliding the rubber mounts of of the hanger brackets.
I had to use a 2x4 and a hammer to 'coax' out the back half of the stock exhaust. (Make sure you re-tighten the front exhaust clamps
)
Putting the Magnaflow exhaust in is pretty easy. It is 3 pieces vs the stock 2 piece.
I know several people have posted about exhaust leaks on the Magnaflow and sure enough, I have one on one of the forward joints connecting that are connected to the cats. The clamp cannot be tightened anymore without risk of marring up the nut on the clamp. I am going to either use a shim or have it welded.
It sounds alot better, deeper, meaner although the SOTP improvement is only barely negligible. Overall I am happy with the installation and fit and finish of the Magnaflow system.
Next weekend is the K&N CAI installation and possibly a set of Gibson's.
Happy motoring!
