Out testing the FX2 meter today and missed 3rd

WOW is that freaking scary when you are at 5800RPM (thought I saw the needle hit 6K redline) and you are pushing her to get bad ass times.

needless to say I do not know what my 0-60 was because I hit 59.2 when I spazzed out. No more today since my legs feel somewhat wobbly know ;)

The cars around me had a good show though, sideways through second. I would not have gotten good times anyway because I just really lit them up with a 1500RPM launch. 0-50 4.18 seconds and 60 2.3 seconds

Well, got to go de-adrenalize my self by washing the beauty

You ain't kidding.

My neighbor comes over and asks why am I washing my truck when it is going to snow. I said (without even thinking) because I love my truck

Damn addiction :D

Mark
lmao. Yeah, I just covered mine back up. It's clean, but I admit, it's ready for a good spring wash and wax.

Sounds like another canidate for Boomer's shifter, Mark. I'll let you know how it works out!
;)
Drifting off-topic here, but now they're calling for 6-12" of the white crap down here in the surrounding Philly areas!

Geez, what are they expecting in Mass??

You aint kidding...we're supposed to get the same in New York! How nice that Maui weather must be right now lol..But this really isnt a laughing matter. We NEED some nice weather!!
The T56 tranny pattern has little room for error. Have made the same critical error in a Viper with RPM hitting close to 8000, result bent valves and a several thousand(5k+) dollar repair bill.

Solution is to shift with your wrist between you body and the tranny. This makes a natural tendency to help get the gate.

But we must always be aware of the possibility of a missed shift when trying to power shift or just pushing RPM's and shifting.

Doesnt the viper have the rev limiter that our trucks have? I have heard ours is at 6400, so to avoid that nasty damage and bill!!

patrick
our rev limiter is 6400  thought it was 6200. I am pretty sure I did hit 6K (and fast) and would not want to go above that even to hit a rev limiter. All I can tell you it was not a pretty site

The rev limiter doesn't do anything if you shift from 2nd to 1st or from 3rd to second like I did. On the good side, my Viper now has a few more cubes, Oliver billet rods and JE pistons built to handle a 400hp shot of nitrous.

Mark,

I have found that if you keep your elbow out towards the passanger seat while shifting to third it keeps you from going over too far. Since I have found this tecnique I have not missed third since.

Good Luck!!

Marc T
Its has an electrical limiter, not a mechanical one. Doesn't help when you bugger up a shift.
It was definitley all the excitment of the truck kicking ass in 1st then second with fishtailing that did it to me. :D I think Patrick said, concentrate and stay calm and it works. I think he was right and I should have done that, but these trucks are so freeking awesome and the shot of adrenalin you get right before dumping the clutch is so over whelming it can be hard to stay calm :p

I will try your idea Marc but this time I did not go far enough right

Mark
The motors have a fuel shutoff (in the 6200 RPM area) but that will not prevent over revving when missing a down shift, missed third and found 1st.
i have not done that in the srt yet but I did find out that in a 04 hemi QC if you spin the tires past like 5500-6000 rpm it will kill the engine shuts it down before you blow her up

hit a icy patch and was screwing around doing fishtails and the engine died at 1st i thought i killed it but guess not
