Noob's questions...

Hey ya'll! I'm in the market of buying an SRT-10, and I've been combing through various forums for a while. By far I think ya'll are some of the coolest and 'down to earth' guys I've seen on SRT's! :) BBUTT, I have some Q's about them tho that've been unanswered...

1). Polished wheels. I really want chrome, but I realize that's not an option unless I send them off. Does the 'polished wheels' hold up well? Are they really polished aluminum, or just the basic wheels w/ clearcoat on them?

2). The GPS/Navigation cd receiver...is it really worth the extra bones? Does it work alright? Also, does it play mp3's?

3). Insurance...how much is ya'lls rates? From what I understand, some insurance companies see it as a RC 1500, and some as an SRT-10. If that's true, let me know what companies list is a RC 1500. :)

4). Gas mileage...not necessarily the rates (can't be much worse than my F150-- 11mpg city, 15mpg highway w/ intake and chip), but how much can ya'll travel on a tank of gas?

5). Which color is faster? I heard Silver is faster ;) hahahahaha

I appreciate ya'll reading/answering this...like I said, ya'll seem to be some of the most awesome group of guys (and girls!) that's about a certain vehicle. And again, thanks!

Heh dude welcome to our club!!!! Buy one and your in the "Red Button Club"!!!!!! Yeah we are a bunch of fun one's for sure!!! ;)

First of all my Black beast is the fastest one......well in my eyes it is!!!!

Insurance first listed mine as a rc 1500 (USAA) when I bought it. Now its listed as a 1500 srt-10......no biggie though cause its only costing me $496 every six months for totally phat coverage! This was only $20 more than my 03 qc hemi 4x4.

Chrome sucks in my eyes....too much polishing...the oem wheels rule!!!! They look awesome and look just as good now as when I bought em....Nobody has em xcept 500 HP hot rod trucks!!!! Nuf said!

Gas mileage..... with 500 HP, you dont worry about it....9 or 10 with a fat foot city style, 15 or 16 highway, except we have no highways on Maui!!! At $ 2.89 a gallon, gas is cheap where you live....

gps........dont got it, if I got lost here, I should be voted off the island!!!! :D :D

buy one and you'll learn what its like to smile too much everyday!!!!!

Welcome ya'll, the wheels are polished & clearcoated, although they are'nt very highly polished. I agree they would look better chrome. In fact some wheel shop on Ebay is selling "knock off's" in chrome already & they look pretty good. Mine does not have the GPS. I think the gas mileage is great for a 5000#, 500hp missle. I recently averaged 14.7mpg on a high speed trip to vegas, doing around 80 to 85mph, with a 600# Harley in the back. The most I've stretched a tank of gas is 375 mi., but you can easily do 350 mi. & it's easier on the nerves. The fastest color is obviously RED! I guarantee if you get a RED button you won't be disappointed!!! ML
Have a QC which is a little fat and has an automatic.

1. The polished Al wheels look good! IMO
2. Have the NAV but would not order it again, like the six disc CD better.
3. Insurance lower than expected.
4 Gas consumption, what a thirsty beast, first tank averaged 7.5 MPG, 1500 miles later average is 8.5 MPG. Have to admit that not many cars leave a traffic light before the SRT RAM. The QC has a 4.56 rear gear and is approx. 5400 pounds.

Get one with the RED start button they are the fast ones that come with a smile for the driver.
Well, my big plan was to get a '03-'04 Silverado SS and slap an STS Turbo/intake/headers/exhaust on it, but I forgot I get a discount with DC products through my father (he works at Freightliner). Why would I spent all that time/money on a vehicle when I can get a kickin' car for the $ I would spend on time/money, and have way more fun factor and it'll be under warranty too? Just don't make too much sense (like those Lightning owners)!

Whenever I get one it'll probably be out of town or on eBay. The Dodge dealership here in town wants $48,XXX for a red RC with the regular wheels and 6-disc CD, and I built a SRT-10 on Dodge's website tonight w/ the polished wheels and nav unit for $47,XXX! They're a bunch of crooks anyways...

But ya, I appreciate ya'll giving me some insight. I will keep ya'll posted! :)
