I heard a strange clunking in the rear of my Silver Bullet today. Took it into the dealer. The spider gear was cracked and or had a tooth missing, and all kinds of metal shavings attached the magnet :) :)

They are recommending upgraded axels and a "detroit" rear end gears? I'm fairly clueless when it comes to this stuff. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? I found some ugraded Dayna 60 stuff from summit, and advanced driveline.

If they mean a Detriot Locker diff. I know about those. I have one in my other Ram, they are VERY strong, but can be VERY noisey (clunking when locking and unlocking). With the power your truck is putting out you might want to install one of those, if you don't mind the noise.

I wonder if they were talking about a AUBURN posi unit. I'm not 100% sure that you would have to change axles or not.
Some friends of mine have dealt with DTS Drive Train Specialists. I don't have the # but when you call, ask for Robert Gordon, tell him someone from the INDYRAM CLUB referred you. He has helped several members of the Indy club.
Hope this helps, and Good Luck!
Later, :D

FWIW, quite a few Lightning guys upgraded their rears with Eaton Posi units. They seem to be quite durable as these guys are running well into the 11's, race with slicks and are NOT afraid to hammer their trucks.
