Just noticed my trucks rear leaf springs appear to have separated the bottom bar from the one above it. Quick google search identifies this as a 'slapper bar' but I've never heard of this. It looks like both sides are in the same condition which makes me think this might be normal and doesnt need to be repaired.

Curious to hear from others whether this is normal, if this is a safety concern, and if this is something best repaired or simply replaced.

Truck drives and rides just fine.

Drivers side:
