Well my first trip I ran a 14.07 so I was really hoping to break into the 13's. On my first test and tune runs I stunk it up running 14.2 and 14.3 and on one run I even spun it so bad in second it freaked me out and missed shifted into third!!! That sucked!!!! wasted run.... Well for my first real race I was up against a Monte Carlo all hotrodded up, at least it sounded cool!!!! He got a little lead start as he was a 15.6 car, I dialed in a 14 flat....I launched great had a reaction time of .558, ya gotta love that, my sixty's havent change, they are all in the 2.3 or 2.4 range ( sucks and dont know what to do about it) I end up passing him up really fast, the truck was pulling so good and I ended up getting off the gas before the finish line, as I didnt want to break out and lose and I ended up doing a 14.14 at 100.44 mph........man it felt good to win the race but ****, I probably was running a high 13 before I let off....oh well it sure was fun though.

My questions are how the hell do you lauch nice without burning out too much and how do I avoid spinning so bad in second....it was outta control how much I was spinning in second. My launches were reving up to about 2500 or so and slipping the clutch out to were I would spin but it didnt feel like that much, then I would punch it. That technique sucks for my sixty though....all of them have been in the 2.3 or 2.4 range.

Now dont bother with the response "get some drag slicks dude" cause all us srt10 owners have heard that one WAY too many times and there are NONE available smart guy!!!

Practice... See if you can find a place off away from traffic and just practice your launch. The more track time you get the better off you will be.

mauiSRT/10 .....next time you go to the track try this remove your spare tire pull the valve and let the air out then fill it up with water 10 gallons will do that will put an extra 70 pounds of weight on the back of the truck where you need it ....then remove your swaybar in the front end this will also help alot with traction .....take 5 to7 pounds of air out of the rear tires for the front tires i always put 60 pounds in the front tires at the track only

its all in the clutch practice, practice, practice

these mods will make it alot easier to launch your truck with less spin ....remember the better you can transfer weight to the rear the better the traction will be and the quicker you will run......

More power will not help. If you can't make a car go fast with 500hp you really won't be able to do it with 700hp. There is a guy on NLOC who bought an 04SRT10 and he ran it to a 13.1 bone stock, but he is a great driver. So learn to go fast with the power you have then when you get a S/C you will be a mean mofo.

...and if you can... strap a midget to the spoiler. That will give you an extra 65 lbs on the rear wheels AND increase down force. :D

Plug the Midget into the trailer hitch and get him to help the launch by kicking off the line like a skateboard. And then make him runnnnnnnn like the AOL man. In some parts of the world they believe that midgets work better than slicks for a hard launch. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.................Jack

Or for Craig, Zoomph, Zoomph, Zoomph............LOL

Maui,
You need to work on that 60 ft. and maybe your shifts. But too me it looks like you have a track problem. I've only really raced on 3 tracks but they were major NHRA, IHRA tracks and I have never had a problem spinning the tires in second gear. Even with 200 extra hp of juice. Ok, now that I've said that, there are things youy can do to help make up for the track condition. Some weight in the rear, one of fstjack's 18" tires, and the AOL man would be good starts.

For those 60' times, if you haven't got the slip the clutch thing down, it could be better to rev the engine to 3000-3500 and quickly releasing (not dump) the clutch and giving it gas. The result would be a very noticable bog and it will feel slower but you should be less likely to spin.

what mods do you have on your srt??? whats your best run at the track??? have you tried any traction mods yet on your truck

if you cant get the power to the ground you will not run your best....you can have all the power in the world but if you cant get it to the ground you lost alot

Thanks for the ideas fellas.....especially the midget skateboard plug deal!!!! That was good!!!!

We have only one track and I am not gonna blame my times on it. Our season is over till Feb so no runs until then. I will try the extra weight ideas and just get some more runs under my belt....I am just having fun and frankly running in the 13's will be good enough for me.....I certainly dont need a super charger, nos or any serious go fast mods on my truck....its plenty fast for me at least now that is!!!

I may slow :D but my truck gets the most attention while at the track...and that aint a bad deal at all!!!

What do you need to look for at the track. Surface? My 330 foot times are all over the place 6.282 with a 2.377 60ft, 7.12 with a 2.604, and a 6.073 with a 2.312 60 ft. best mph 104.41 worst 101.55, Thanks PS quarter mile best so far 13.71 @104.41
