At what mph do the stock trucks shut down ? I have been over 140 and it was still pulling hard ! Kinda got scared of getting caught by the troopers so I backed her down quickly. I know Yellow has to be the fastest ;)

I don't beleive the truck has an speed limiter - it just hits terminal velocity based on it being a brick going 150mph+
Drag calculated VS HP Required

These trucks are more drag limited than by anything else.

Drag Coefficient:0.43
Frontal Area:35.8
MPH Force (lbs) HP Required
10 3.9 0.1
20 15.4 0.8
30 34.7 2.8
40 61.8 6.6
50 96.5 12.9
60 138.9 22.2
70 189.1 35.3

This model only takes into account wind drag nothing else, rolling resistance and/or tireslip.

Drag Coefficient (Cd) is a dimensionless number which represents the air drag of a vehicle.

So when you soil your shorts at 150+mph, does that increase drag or is it just uncomfortable?

I asked that question to the "Viper-certified" mechanic at the dealership when I picked up my truck a couple of days ago. I told him that I had noticed my hemi wouldn't go over (I think it was) 105 mph or so. He told me that they were set to shut off based on the tire rating. He said that with the SRT they (the tires) were rated I think somewhere in the high 140s. Does this sound right ? I have had bad luck so far. I picked up the truck at night. The next day I get on the highway to go to work and I am literally behind a trooper for twenty miles (at 60.0 mph). This morning it was pouring rain. I think I am going to have to wait for smmer before I can open it up. Has anybody tried to outrun a trooper yet?

I've had the Silver Bullet, well over 160mph. It was a little light, but still handled great. Fuel Economy was around 6mpg.

The tires are rated at 168mph. There are only a few road tires that are rated higher.

142 mph for me with lots of guts left. The most impressive thing is the braking capability at that speed...best feature of this truck!!
