SRT-10 Hood Information?

while he was driving it back from Texas it spun a cam bearing
{ thats what they thought it was last time I saw it anyways }
DC gave the owner two options, rebuild and repair of the original engine to keep the numbers matching...or...
replace with a new engine.
The owner chose a new engine and DC was flying one in the day I was there.
The dealership has replaced the engine last I heard, after about a week or so.
No more info other than that.

Boomer, why all the rudeness towards MarkPMB? I mean, how do you know that he couldn't have a SRT-10? I know that I could have one and would have one today if they made them in an extended cab. With all the mods and the price of my ThunderRoad Hemi, I damn near have invested what a SRT is going for any way.

I do not have an SRT-10, I have a 2003 Hemi ...see my signature block?
I'll even attach a pic for you.
Now, I just passed on what the sevice manager at the dealership said was wrong with the engine. I am not familiar with the Viper engine as far as how it is built. When I looked at this truck it did have oil on the top of the plenum cover, but they had already been checking the motor out.
They said it would run, but barely. They had a big sign taped across the steering wheel " NO START " when I looked at it.
But if you don't believe me I can provide the name of the dealership
and you could call them and then make a fool out of yourself here.

No 9 seconds .. I was referring to Boomer.
I only glanced at the scoop from the underside, saw that it was open and looked to have a rubber, possibly plastic flap.
I could be mistaken, and I did not notice that on my YL part that has come in.
I am going to PM or e-mail you some info .....

Oops. Sounded like it was in reference to my can bearing comment. Most dealership employees know much less about Vipers and well, most cars than the enthusiast. I would believe the new engine has cam bearings.

At any rate, that dealership is a Viper certified retailer and service center.
That day I was in there they had 4 new Vipers ...2 in the back and
2 in the showroom ... they have not received a SRT-10 to sell as of yet.

I do have the contact info (Thank you MARKPMB) and will see if I can find out what happened. First, I'll see what PVO says this weekend and then I''' check with the guys who actually saw/diagnosed the problem. I don't think it's a big issue because the VCA board hasn't had much buzz about this problem.

panic

I got mine too!
My hood came in today also! I'm one of the lucky ones because I just ordered it about a week ago. I guarantee you they will be gone as quick as they got released and will be on backorder as fast as they came off.
I haven't gotten an appointment with the paint shop yet, but when I get it all done and finished, I'll be sure to post some pics also.

Updated info ... I went by the dealership today.
Dropped off my tailgate and got to see my hood and insert again.
Goes to paint on Monday.
I asked about the Viper engine and he told me what they found was
a bolt had backed out of the cam gear? I think that is right.
He said it was on the front of the engine and must have not been torqued to spec and backed out and fell down in there somehow.
He says they could have repaired the engine but the owner did not want that.
DC never did overnight the replacement engine, like they said they would.
It took three weeks for the engine to come in.
They put a new engine in with only 1700 miles on it,
but now his numbers don't match.
My guy was a little busy, so thats all I found out.
On a good note, when we ordered the hood, since I was first and we were unsure of all the part numbers, we ordered a extra honeycomb insert.
He let me take it today so I could use it for a template to block
off the opening. { Pic attached }
I also looked over it today to see what I interpreted as a rubber or plastic flap,
