Not making excuses....

Would like to see the E.T. on the Lightning -- he looked pretty quick. No secret that our trucks are not the easiest things in the world to launch....

The track is Baytown, TX near Houston.
Yes the Lightning is slightly modified.
Its gonna take alot for the SRT10s to compete with Modded Lightnings, but we'll be here waiting :)

To my understanding according to the thread on nloc.net covering this topic... (Gen 2 Lightning vs SRT-10 video)

The Lightning that beat the SRT-10 in that video has a PSP chip, 4# pulley, and High flow exhaust.

Please keep in mind this was information gathered from another thread regarding this topic.

Sanchoba, yes it's in/near Houston.

I'm starting to believe that they cut out the trap times on purpose. I've been reading on a few Turd websites and they said the L in the video runs consistant 12.5's.

The editing was stupid, the camera angle is misbelieving, and the commentary was simply pissing me off.

The guy in the Ram shouldn't have never lined up. It's not even broken in yet and I'm sure he doesn't know how to put all that torque to the ground. It was said he also missed 2nd.

Any monkey can smash the gas on an automatic,...looks like the monkey won this time, But it IS Run what you brung....I'm sure there will be many more vids to come.

MoparRevolution: You are right... run what you brung. A win is a win, a monkey or a rat, who ever crosses the 1/4 mile first wins. :)

Is the SRT-10 guy in that video a member on here. If he is, it would be awesome for him to give us the post details of that race, maybe him confirming he actually missed second gear as well as any other problems he might have incurred. I am hoping the guy with the Lightning will post up on nloc.net to give his side as well.

Nice looking site guys :)

Watch your mouth!! I'm the guy in Lightning.
My truck does run consistent mid 12s with the few mods I have.
The SRT driver told he did have trouble with second gear.
And yes there will be more videos to come. In fact, I'm thinking about posting a video of me and every SRT10 color there is. So I'll be in Baytown waiting :)

you do run what you bring. (brung)

you can't say that it wasn't a fair race because a gear was missed, on the street, you'd still have to pay.

You can't say the Lightning was modded and therefore it was unfair. THe SRT-10 puts out over 500hp, to get a Lightning to 500hp, you ahve to add 120hp and that means a BUILT LOWER END, which the lightning in the forementioned race did NOT have.
I doubt the Lightning was putting out 500hp!

There will be wins on both sides Dodge and Ford, but this is the first video I've seen of the 2 monsters lining up. Ford won this round, but there will be many more.
I'm sure that on a 100 degree day wiht high humidity the SRT-10 will walk away from the Lightning, unless they have substantially upgraded the Innercooler cooling system (supercooler, powercooler).

Stay Tuned, it's going to be a fun year on both sides of the fence.

That's one of item I loved about the Dakota-5-speed auto. Easy to beat up other trucks without the fear of miss shifting.:D

I done it in the SRT more than once with miss shifting.

Like the day when the SRT-4 and the SRT-10 hit the streets, it is matter of time when these vehicle became modded and began the street domination.

I would expect it within the year. L owners will be owned!!! :D

I wonder if dodge boy ever raced Johnny Lightning with over 700 REAR WHEEL HP and over 800 REAR WHEEL TORQUE?
I wonder if dodge boy ever raced SAL from PSP who Broke his Crank in half with over 1000 REAR WHEEL TORQUE?

that Dodge boy wo't know what hit them.

BTW: This was with the 5.4L Block that came in their respective lightnings from the factory.

Have a nice day.

EDIT: Who are both capable of running 9 seconds in their Lightnings, and WILL do so early this spring. STAY TUNED.

What a sad:( video clip. Sad:( for the guy who drove poorly and sad:( for those who are so jazzed by the "kill".

Sad:( also is knowing so little about drag racing that you think a peak horsepower number has anything to do with moving a car down the track. Got Juice has it figured out;) .

The majority who 1/4 race knows it's torque that get's you down the track. From looking at the dyno sheet 9seconds has from the prototype throttle body his truck produced 434.5hp & 447.5ft.lbs of torque. With around 500 miles on the odo. If the throttle body helped gain some then the stock numbers would be lower. At 5150lbs.

The majority torque numbers of stock 01-03 Lightning dyno's I have seen posted on the Lightning boards are anywhere from 407-425. My truck put 423ft.lbs down at 4700lbs. Just 24ft.lbs less than 9seconds SRT RAM. That 24ft.lbs with my truck being at 450lbs less weight puts the power to weight ratio in the Lightning favor. The RAMS are going to need a better clutch and a diet if they are going to compete on the track with a slightly moded Lightning that has a 4# lower, K&N, chip and Traction mods.

Just now way around it. You can add the giggle gas to the SRT and would be very effective at a roll. Using it on a stick with no traction from a dead stop would tear up that trany. That is the week link in the SRT's armour.

An aftermarket company needs to get some wheels and real traction bars to help this truck out. Also an automatic conversion kit for the serious racers..

I just hope it doesn't cost you guys $1k to just get the suspension tuned. I'd like to see more of the guys run them at the track....
