Well fellas, I picked up my truck on Sat. It is everything I wanted and more. Being the former owner of a 2nd gen Lightning and not giving a damn about which was, will, or could be faster, I must say this truck kicks ass!!! This truck is what is great and horrible about America all rolled into one insane package. There is something to be said for 500hp and a six speed manual in a bigger than life pickup. Like I said before I don't care who has the faster truck. I have a job and family to look out for. I could care less about racing. The SRT-10 has the fun factor score through the roof. The Lightning is just a stab and go ride. The Dodge is 10 times more enjoyable to drive. It acually feels like a sports car(within reason). The shifter is fine. Much better than I expected. I have yet to miss any up or down shift. Anyhow I'll get you some pics of the truck later. The wing is off already. IMO it looks much better without it. Time to take a ride!

Cool! Anxious to see some pictures too!

I think you and I look at this truck along the same lines - simply a fun to drive, 500 hp, 6 speed machine! I also could care less who has the faster truck, although I still feel the Dodge will eventually take the lead when owners get used to driving it hard (stock vs. stock). My Lightning is my daily driver - back and forth to work every day, and at times I do get a bit bored with the auto trans. Though I'm NOT complaining about the L. It has been virtually flawless in operation for over 4 years and 33K. I think it's just me that wants a little more excitement while driving - namely a manual transmission to go with the BIG truck and BIG power. Not to mention I like a somewhat rare vehicle, and IMO the Gen2 left that category a couple years back when they INcreased production. :(

It's just the towing thing that has me on the fence for now. Plus this damn Winter weather. It seems a shame to take one of these things out in the salt and slop and get it all messed up, but I've been doing it with my Black L since new and it still cleans up nice, so that's something I can deal with. Otherwise, I love this truck.

Congrats!

How Long a wait

About how long did you have to wait for your order to be processed, if you ordered it from your dealer, or, perhaps, you just found one at a dealership.

I have an interesting story on purchasing the truck. My sold order with my local dealer is still in BG status. I was set to take delivery of one of their spec units, which was due to show up in the next couple of weeks. It is currently on its way to texas.

I just happened to do a search for vehicles and found one at a dealer an hour away. They had a black one on the floor. That's what I ordered. The spec unit coming to my dealer was silver. I wanted black all along so I gave them a call. I told them my situation.

My deal with my dealer was for a thousand back of msrp. I told them I would give them full msrp for their truck. The guy said he'd talk to the boss and call me back. He called back and said he could not sell it for less or msrp, go figure! I told him that was fine. I'll wait for the silver one to show up and save some money.

The next day he calls me back and says he has some great news for me. He tells me that they'll forgo the 30,000 dollar markup on the truck and sell it to me for a thousand over sticker because it has been a slow day. I told him that's is great but I still won't buy the truck. My prides refuses to pay more than sticker. He then tries to sweeten the dealer by throwing in 7 years of free oil changes and tells me this is a one day deal too. I told him I couldn't buy the truck even if I wanted to because I was at work until morning. I told him to call me back when they are ready to sell it for msrp.

Saturday morning rolls along and I decide to go to the dealership just to see what a black one looks like. I fell in love. I wanted the truck then and there. I see if the guy I've been talking with is there. He isn't. Another lacky hears out my story and goes to talk to some guy. I assume it is the manager. He comes back and says you can have the truck for msrp. I shake his hand and the deal is done. I take the truck for a test drive. Awesome!

We get back and the guy I was dealing with before is all up in arms because the deal was suspose to be for a thousand over. I tell him too bad. He goes back to the manager and comes back with a different frame of mind. It turns out it was the owner of the dealership who ok'd the dealer and he was flat out of luck. To top it off I still got 7 years of free Mobil One oil changes!

Now I just have to keep the damn thing clean!

Welcome aboard! I see it didn't take long for your truck to "hook" you. It was the same with me. Such a fun drive. Really accelerates. Only problem I have is waiting for the weather to clear for a long enough period for me to drive it (in VA with lots of snow and ice recently)! CONGRATS! :D

BOOMER. I'd tell your Dealer to stick it and find one on a lot like some of the others did. Maybe not in that order though LOL

I feel for you guys in the mid west and back east and up north. It must suck having snow on the road. Out here on the other hand in California it was a sunny 65 and a perfect day to take the truck out and shank some balls on the golf course.

By the way my truck is off to Bassani to be their test truck for some exhaust parts!!! I'll keep you all updated!!!
