We all have sold cars that we wish we still had. What's the one that you regret letting get away (pictures if you have 'em)? Mine was a numbers matching '70 Chevelle SS396. I know, I know, I'm a Mopar guy but I have this thing for Chevelles too. I had to sell it so I could afford to build a Barracuda. It ended up that the Barracuda got totalled three months after it was finished - a long story. Anyway, I still wake up at 3 am and think about the Chevelle. Sold it to a guy in Amsterdam, Netherlands. I told him a condition of the sale was a picture of it in front of a windmill.

That is a beauty. That was my favorite year and configuration. I can see why you wake up in the middle of the night.

Mine was nothing real fancy, A 1972 Chevy c-10 pick up with a 454 LS-6 that I put togeather, Body was bone stock. Two tone Blue and white. I sold it when times were tight for contractors here in the late eighties. The guy beat the piss out off it. I saw it two years later in a back yard dented and beat. :(

I did get a replacement just last year, 1968 GMC, camper special, LT-1 motor frame off resto. real nice!

I regret selling my 1970 Cuda. Bought it in December 1969 new. It was a TORRED (red) with black top. 440 with slapstick auto and 4:10 rear end. It had Racer Brown performance parts and ran 12:97 and 112 mph in the 1/4 mile. Well, I thought I fell in LOVE with my 1st wife so in Feb of 1971 I sold it! Had too and inherited my grandmother's 1967 Chevelle with 247 actual miles and 283 powerglide. No payment. Then we divorced in June of 1972. Talk about MAD. Not about the divorce but not having my Cuda! Lesson learned. Droopy.

Wikdsvt. Nice pictures. I'm curious about the 1963-65 Comet in the background. Is that yours? If so do you still have it? By the way, looks like the film didn't develop right as the paint on the Avenger changes color? Droopy

After watching Barrett-Jackson this weekend and seeing the '70 Hemi 'Cuda go for a 1/4 mil,, I bet you're agitated! I guess yours wouldn't quite go for that with the 440 (?), but it would have to be worth some coin!

Mine was my '93 Cobra. I bought it used, but in great condition! I opened up the exhaust and added a BBK Instacharger (Supercharger) to it. It was only pushing 6-6.5psi, but God - What a blast it was on the street! Big Block Power and Torque everywhere! It wasn't super-fast, only pulling high 12's at 110, but it wasn't set up to drag race. It was just a fast, reliable, good-looking car that I really enjoyed driving.

Then I saw the '95 Cobra R...

I proceeded to return the '93 back to stock in one weekend and traded it in the next Monday on a brand new 1995 Mustang Cobra R. This was October 1997 and the car was STILL brand new in the Dealer's showroom.

Anyway, now I've got an ultra-rare, factory-produced, purpose-built race car that I hardly ever drive (1 of 250 built)! The car is extremely fun to drive, but I don't want to rack the miles up on it, and I'm paranoid about getting hit as well! It's got 1,008 miles on it, and is as-new.

I've been considering selling it for some time now, but common sense tells me to hang onto it, especially after watching the auction this past weekend. Plus, the market for this type of car really sucks now and I hate the idea of selling it cheap just to get rid of it. I don't need the cash or the room it occupies, so I'm kinda 'on the fence'. I don't want to sell it, then regret doing so down the road.

What would you do?

If I get a QC then my wife says I have to sell my Mustang. I bought it new 14 years and 3 months ago and it has less than 92,000 miles. Then for the rest of my life I can say it was the one that got away. :( :( :(

Hamrhead, keep the Cobra R. In ten years you'll be glad you did. Droopy, any pictures of your Cuda? My brother traded a '70 Hemi Cuda in for a Powerwagon in 1973. That's definitely the one that got away from him. And Milo, we need pictures of your GMC too? I always liked '68s. Marc, I don't even want to know what went on in your van. It would be really hard to give up a car you had for 14 years. Hopefully Knotch's wife will relent. Hey Wikd, didn't you have some 60s vintage Mustangs?

Cars that got awy!

Well I have had a few,a Biscayne 69 Chev,L-72 rockcrusher trans,5,13s headers, slicks, would run low 12s,one of 79 made that year, put a hurst super shifter in the car, here we are fall of 1970 october 10t,had the car out for one of the last drives before winter as I was living in St Paul Minn, driving one block from my house I was jst crusing along in 3rd gear when up along side comes a AAR cuda nice looking He wants to race, were going 35 -40, wasn't to worried I did not down shift he hit it I did the same I jumped maybe 2-3 carlenghts right away power shifted 3 to 4 only instantly finding the back of the car not just fish tailing but the back was just coming around on me,like a dummy I tried to corect and ended up sliding across the road hitting a huge tree, hitting between the passenger front tire and the front bumper, there hardley was any straight panels,I think the front seat was even bent,I had a broken neck, broken femur, the car had 3000 miles, that was my favorite, had a Hemi 68 RR that was totaled in a Arbys parking lot in 1971.
Whether or not to keep that car you have stored out back, what you should yo do who knows?I hav e a couple of those ,so tell me the anser?

The one that got a way

Hey I failed to tell what I later found out about my crash, the hurst shifter I put in the car,a super shifter, had a tendency to go into 2nd gear if not pushed and pulled at the same time when shifting from 3rd to 4th,I had 5.13 gears so it was like go in to reverse, there was leaves on the road, being the time of year posi rear, instant spin out.
Question out there?
Has anyone missed 3rd going into 1st!!!

Good Eye.

1. The paint changes color, EVERY COLOR! It was a one off Custom Dupont color that was painted on this car. It was Dupont's show car throughout canada before I bought it from them.
(go to google and type "Chromalusion" )

2. The Comet is still there. It's my neighbors. He drove it home, Threw me the keys to go drive around... I did all day, then he parked it. That was about 6 years ago. He starts it every so often.

Hey Milo, that link only takes me to another Dodge forum, no pics. Is there another link I can try?

Gearhead, wasn't the L-72 the 375 hp (underrated) 396? That was a nasty accident. And then to total the RR too. I can't decide if your unlucky to wreck those cars or lucky to still be kickin'. Glad you survived. That 330 of yours got my attention. Any pics?

Thanks to you all for sharing your stories. It's interesting to see what everyone used to drive. Keep 'em coming.
