Anyone else have a noisey 4th gear (or other gear), mainly under 3K RPMs?
Mine has a rattle sound that you can hear in the cab and hear it really good with the sliding window open but it goes away above 3K RPMs .

3rd is a little noisey (not even noticeable) and the other gears are quiet but 4th.....

It is not normal. I have a bunch of trucks and none make "tranny/gear noise".
Unless I'm grinding gears ;)

Took it in and the Viper Tech  (older gentleman named Charlie) went on a ride with me. he did show me that the sound is in all gears (which I did hear when he pointed it out) but much more noticable in 4th and according to him, sounds normal and I should nto be concerned about it. He did say another SRT-10 Ram came in a while back with the same complaint and they checked it out on the lift, head to toe and all was OK and still is. With that, he is basically telling me it is normal.

The service advisor said, (obviously for my own self comfort) if it seems to get worse, BRING IT IN.

So, it is as it is and I will watch it but will nto lose sleep over it as long as it stays the same. I did buy a 7/75 extended warranty to back me up a little farther down the road. I did find out that there is a Class 2 surcharge for our trucks which adds 500 bucks or so to the price of the warranty. this matches with what I found out myself online.

All in all, THIS TRUCK KICKS ASS AND I LOVE IT!

The "GRIND"

I definitely get a “GRINDING NOISE” about two minutes after leaving the driveway, it last anywhere from 10-30 seconds and it isn’t harmonic or linked to engine rpm and I hear it with or without the clutch in and in all gears ( 1-4) very rarely hit 5th or 6th and I can feel it in the shifter….and it’s getting on my nerves. The dealership is of no help, but of course I can leave it there day after day after day and go rent another car until they can track it down (maybe)…I couldn't believe that I was so special that I would be the only one having this problem………..Can anyone help?

I have had a noisy 4th gear as well as long as I've had the truck. It's only with a moderate load on it at around 3000 RPM I don't hear it in any other gear. It's usually when the truck is not fully warmed up. I have heard it when it has been warmed up though as well. My last car had a Tremec 6 speed in it as well and also made some gear noise so I'm not too worried. It was in different gears but the noise was almost identical. The Ford tech (used to have a 03 Cobra) told me that it is a characteristic of Tremec Trannies and they will make some gear noise. I do have a 7 year 75,000 mile warranty on it for good measure. You're not alone SITEDRIFTER I can tell you the Magnaflow has done a great job of masking it and I barely ever hear it anymore. Maybe some synthetic tranny fluid will do the trick but I have been lazy about doing it.

Grab old Charile by the nape of the neck...get the keys to the showroom srt-10 truck, go for a spin and THEN have him show/tell you that the sound is normal.
I'd say that they need to take the tranny out and look for visible wear or bits of metal in the case...
You know what your truck should sound like they don't. I'd be worried that I'd get stuck on the road somewhere and now we would have to get AAA involved...you think they would tow it or put it on a bed..?
Murphys law...i bet it would get towed..
sorry to hear that the hamburger is a-grinding, and yet you are jsut shiftin normal....
