Looking into the VEC ll programming. Anyone running this on their trucks? Make a difference? Complicated to use? Pros/Cons? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I called Roe Racing last week, and they are out of them till mid this week. I will say that Roe was very helpful, and they will answer any questions that you have. They will program the cards for you if you would like. They were telling me that with different mods, that they have seen up to a 60+ hp gain. Mine is on the way soon.(hopefully sometime this week) He was saying that it is not to hard to install, just as long as you are not color blind. They send all of the hardware that you will need... Give them a call, they are good people..hope that helps
I`m doing mine when I get back from NM next week.I have seen some dyno #`s that indicate maybe there isn`t the 60 HP gain that we thought.Am I wrong on that?Guys that have done it on here I`d like to hear what your gains are before I buy it.

Same here, I would appreciate any information! ;)
I installed my unit last night after dinner. I'm no mechanic, but have a good understanding of how mechanical things work. However, I hate working on things electrical. I was surprised that I even wanted to attempt this.

Anyways, I finally got things fixed up this morning. In total it took me about 3 1/2 hours, and I lost an hour on getting one of the plug connectors to work properly. Not ROE's fault at all, but rather my kid pushed in a locking peice on a connector plug that wouldn't allow the the wires to lock in place.

But the thing rocks. I asked for a program card that gave me most of the power increase in the low end of the scale an on up through the mid point. Not really needed at the top end since it dosen't give much up there anyways. I even got back my chirp going into second gear ( mine's an 05' QC). You can really feel the difference in the bottom end torque. The power is intantaneous the moment you touch the gas.

As for the installation, it went better than I thought. Since I knew that I would be cutting into the wire harness for about 13 different wires and intalling 22 new plug ends, I went to home depot and bought one of those electrician sticker books that allows you to mark the wires with numbered stickers. I strongly recommend this because if you loose track of which wire is which once you disconnect them from the original wire harness it becomes like a jigsaw puzzle. If you take your time and follow the instructions one step at a time you should have no problem.

Considering my choice on what I spent on headers and exhaust, this was a great bang for the buck. And Dave and sean at ROE are always happy to help you through whatever you need.

Go to this page: http://www.srt10forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1470&page=3&pp=10

Then scroll down to Titans post and click on Dyno Runs.

The post explains the different mods including the VEC 2

This was installed and tuned by ROE Racing.
ThankSS for the feedback on the VEC 2.I am ordering it next week for sure.Maybe we can get a GP on it fron Roe Racing. What do you say Sean?

Thanks all for the info...sounds like the VEC is a no brainer. Group buy would be nice to get in on, now that ROE is a supporting vendor and all...
From the looks of Marc's dyno runs this does seem like on of the best mods for the buck!!!!!

Come on Sean, Group Buy!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D What a way to kick of your Grand opening on the SRT-10 Forum!! ;)
Hi Everyone,

The VEC2 allows you to change the air / fuel ratio and timing on the engine. The farther off it is from ideal when programmed by the factory, the larger the gains by correcting it with the VEC2 can be. It can vary by vehicle a bit, but the largest gains are typically in the mid-range and we pick up more power in the trucks than in the cars. Dodge leaves a lot on the table and that's why the VEC2 can make such an improvement.

Regarding a group buy or introductory special, we'll talk about at the shop and see if we can do something. However, please realize that after manufacturing costs, we only add a standard margin it takes to keep a business' doors open. There's not a lot of room and I would'nt want to do anything that upset our previous customers either. Our pricing strategy on products is to keep the margins low and the volume high, and we'll try to do a good job for you guys in that regard.

In the for what it's worth department, with the testing we've done so far, I personally feel that the best bang for the buck power gain on the trucks is in the engine manangement system.

Regards,
Sean

Thanks for the explanation Sean. That is the kind of thing I like to see. For those that already purchased one a week or so ago, it isn't really fair to see a discount.

Appreciate the sponorship of the board, Myself and others have been waiting :)

Craig
Well I installed mine myself , so that right there should tell you anyone could do it!!!!!! :D Haven't had it tuned yet , waiting to get the headers to tune.
By the way Sean will the Vec2 work on the QC or will there be a different one?
Ordered my VEC 2 today and will have it MO.I am going to install it MO afternoon so it shouldn`t be long to see the power difference. :D

I talked to Dave @ Roe Racing, there isn`t going to be any GP or discounts on the VEC 2 through the forum since the margin is too small.

I don't want to start any trouble, especially with a supporting sponser(I think that's grounds for banishment), BUT I talked to a tuner shop here in Indy about installing the VECII a couple months ago. He said if I could get four people to buy one, he would only charge all of us $900 a piece. Now I don't know if he was getting his cash from somewhere else (i.e. install, tuning,etc...) but he never said they HAD to be installed in his shop. Just my .02.
Like I said, I don't want to start trouble, but I would like to help out my fellow board members whenever possible. I know you guys would do the same for me. Who knows, maybe we'll get that group buy after all. Maybe ROE just cant do it on this board because if they do it on here, then they got to do it on all the Viper boards then, yes, they probably will be losing money.
That would be a great deal Jeff.I just paid the extra $95.00 since I wanted to get it on when I get back from NM.I get it put on and tuned for free so it is pretty much of a wash I guess. You going to try to get a group buy on this for yours and 4 others?

You going to the Indipala dyno day the 26th of March?

No dice on Indipala Days. I'll be in an Explorer on my way back down to Miami. Sounds like it will be a good time though. I would really like to see/ride in that Impala of yours.
Cool.Maybe the Spring Fling @ Bud Wolf Chevrolet on APR 23rd then.

Yeah, I'll be back in FL that day too. Volleyball tournament in Destin, FL. I got a couple trips coming up these next couple months (Cubbies spring training, Miami X2, Destin, Fishing trips, oh... and I have to work a couple days too). :D And I can't seem to figure out why I have no money for mods?
