VEC2 Viper Engine Controller

Guys,

Sean Roe is developing a VEC2 for the Ram SRT-10. Production availability will be on his web site (www.roeracing.com) when it is finished. Initial numbers are encouraging. Net increase of 17.58 HP, and 42.15 TQ. My stock truck went from 416.03 HP to 434.03, torque went from 438.41 to 480.56 at rear wheels. Next upgrade will be air box and exhaust, then back for tuning and a new card for controller. Stock PCM runs very rich above 4000 rpm (a/f ratio was 10:1). Having to pull out fuel and install colder plugs. Truck runs stock except at WOT, then seat of pants dyno tells the story. I expect a few tweaks in the fuel curve on next trip in a few weeks. I'll submit dyno sheet from home computer.

ECU/PCM Reprogrammer

who makes a reprogramer for the ecu?
Boomer,
Take a look at the main page at www.roeracing.com. Look for New items (left side)services. He covers approximately 23 new products. Several RAM SRT-10 products including stand alone VEC2 in development. They prototyped the VEC2 harness on my truck and I'm going back in a few weeks for the actual production harness. There is a programable output lead that can be used to turn on a nitrous or any number of other upgrades. The neat thing for me will be the ability to change "smart cards" from inside the vehicle. You can have different cards. For example you can have a "stock" card that runs on 93 octane; a "sport-tuned" card for 93 octane and improved throttle response that doesn't allow the air fuel ratio to reach the factory 10:1 a/f above 4000 rpm; a "racing" card for 104 octane fuel and 28" diameter tires; If for instance you decide that you want to install a lightweight flywheel, or an intake and exhaust upgrade, then they should be able to create specific upgrade card that can be installed after the upgrades are made.

I'm planning to do an intake upgrade and exhaust before I go back and get the new harness. I'm lucky that it can dynoed and retuned. The results can be used as a baseline for that upgrade in the future.

Take a look, it might meet your requirements....it meets mine. I believe there will be a stand alone VEC2. I know that the VEC2 can be used as part of the supercharger upgrade. You'll have to forward your vehicle specific questions to Sean or David to determine product requirement and availablility.

Boomer,
I personally think he has a great reputation. I recommend that you go over to the Viper Forum at VCA.org and look around. Heck, you can enter his name in the search function (bottom of page) and read some of his responses and comments ( You can get some insight about people by how they consider and answer questions). You could also look at his site "about us" and that will give you a little history. There are many vendors in the Viper community. Many of them know their product and value their customers satisfaction...
I'd say Sean is one of those guys. He finds a need, looks to develop a product to meet that need, fully tests it, and then offers a well thought out
product for sale that gives values to his cutomers. Bottom Line, do some research and make your own decision...I did. I'm lucky to actually live within 25 miles of his shop so I'm familiar with his work. I'm satisfied!

I've had dealings with Sean here and there for 4 years. He is a good guy. But, like Jax Ram wrote, do some research. No one walks on water (Well, not in a long time anyway). The VEC2 is interesting.
thanks alot 9. does anyone know of anyone who has used a Vec2?

Used VEC2

Boomer,
I believe you'll need a stand alone VEC2 since you're not going to supercharge it. I'm going to supercharge later which uses different parameters and then I'll have a used stand alone VEC2 . Read the info page
"Whats New", it will tell you what he has going on.

I have three friends in town who have the Roe Supercharger and VEC2 on their Viper. A lot of kinks have been worked out, and new features added since they were released a year ago.
The system is totally programable for fuel curve and timing curve with both adjustable on a single cylinder basis. The cars program is dropped on a smart card and when inserted in the VEC2 box reprograms the car. With the $60 card writer extra cards can be programmed with the easy-to-use software on a lap-top with variable changes in about 60 seconds.
We have gone to the dyno and tried changing many different variables with instant results. It takes longer to let the car cool down some for the next run than to reprogram the ECU.
There are leads on the VEC2 box that can activate things like nitrous under predetermined conditions.
I have done a lot of business with Sean Roe over the years and can say that it is a top notch operation with some of the best customer service in the industry. He will personally take your call about product questions.

Taylor

These are the guys to watch for future Ram SRT-10 performance parts. A word of caution... Be absolutely sure that you do your homework before purchasing any parts from any company! It seems to me like there has always been a dark cloud hanging over a large part of the Viper performance community. Below I have listed some more resources which should prove beneficial. Just type in any of these company's names in the search bar and see for yourself. Use your discernment and make up your own mind. I refuse to talk **** or gossip on the internet even though I have had personal contact with some of these companies; nevertheless, I have had a few close friends that have been burned. Be careful!!! I love living in Houston cause I get to be right in the middle of all of these tunners and awesome Vipers. All of the * next to the links represent the local Houston boys.
